Well the forth of a July was quite the interesting night. She had been given far too much alcohol and started just lighting up fireworks. Despite the amount she drank, she definitely remembered it. Though she wasn’t exactly sure where she was now. The girl had passed out while being carried back. She was assuming that Logan took her back to her room being that he asked what room she was in and all. Either that or she would be in his dorm. Not that it really mattered being that either way she was going to be hung over as all hell in the morning. Well, more than likely she was going to be anyway. This meant she would probably be cranky and hopefully nobody would irritate her. After all, it was slightly a pain to deal with a person on fire. Though not everyone would be hurt by it, but still while it may be amusing to watch them flail they could get hurt and she didn’t want to accidentally kill someone.
Anyway though she had a pounding headache and found she was still in her clothes from last night, but on her bed. Sitting up slowly she put a hand on her head and noted how jacked up her hair was. Well, it was short so it was kind of hard to mess up too bad, but it was sticking out in all directions. Thus she switched to a t-shirt and shorts. Her head was hurting and she didn’t really want to move, but knew she would have to if she wanted pain killers and water. Both of which she definitely wanted right at the moment. She also wanted to brush her teeth and fix her hair so the taste of whiskey would go away. She then remembered she had told Logan far more about herself than she should have. This meant she would probably have to explain that at some point. Crap, that wasn’t something she was looking forward to doing hangover or not. After all, she wasn’t exactly able to explain very well last night, and was sure there would be a more complicated in depth explanation at some point. When that would be was up in the air though. Depended on when he would approach her to ask.
She then wandered over to the bathroom and dunking her hair in some water. She figured she would just fix her hair and then lay about all day getting rid of a hangover. After she poured water on her head and brushed her teeth she walked back out and blinked when she noted that there was someone in her living room. Well, maybe she should have expected that being that he did probably have her keys being that she didn’t open the door that was for sure. Hell Logan had to carry her in for goodness sakes. She supposed she would have to explain with a hangover then. Great, that was going to suck quite a bit. Oh well, at least she wouldn’t be wondering about when then. ”Hi Logan……morning?” she said with a slight smile.

Waking up Logan looked around at his dorm room, snuggling back in to his sheets he thought about last night. Fourth of a July had been crazy, although some how he had still made it home. Rubbing his head he remembered about what Ildri had told him. She was a phoenix, and that was something he didn’t quite understand. How could she be a bird? She looked pretty normal to him even when she was in the library. But now it started to make since why she liked high places, cause even if she fell it not like she couldn’t become a bird. Could she morph in to a bird, she was human looking after all? But remembered she said she could take shape of a human. It was all too much thinking and hurt his head more. Putting his pillow over his head he relaxed in to his bed. But the questions kept piling on as he sat there, finally deciding to change clothes he heard a small clink of keys. Picking his jeans back up he looked in to his pocket to see Ildri’s keys. Sighing he figured that he should return them and get some answers at the same time. Like that visit wouldn’t be awkward for both of them.
Putting the key on his desk he walked in to the bathroom and took a quick shower before pulling new clothes on. Grabbing some aspirin he took two and drank some water. Putting the bottle of water in his pocket he grabbed another one and stuck the bottle of aspirin in to his other pocket figuring Ildri would want some if they worked on people like her. It was strange to think that she was more different than him self, but couldn’t and didn’t want to judge her. Since he was in the same boat being able to set himself on fire. Shaking his head he turned on his coffee pot and decided to make enough for two cups. He didn’t drink coffee a lot but for rough nights he always needed a little kick in the ass to get going. Finally pouring two cups he felt like he was a coffee shop and laughed at him self before taking off toward Ildri’s room, key in pocket.
Standing in the girl’s dorm he looked around for a moment, it seemed the same as the boys. He never had a chance to look around when he came up here with his couple of flings, since he was a bit preoccupied. Putting the key in to the lock he opened the door in to Ildri’s room. He wasn’t sure if she had a roommate so he poked his head in for a moment before noticing no one was in there. Wondering if he shouldn’t go in he heard some commotion in the bathroom. Taking his chances that it was Ildri he walked in and place the bottle of water, aspirin and coffee on what he guessed was her nightstand and sat in a desk chair. Lounging back he drank some coffee feeling it’s effects slowly. Taking his shoes off he scooted closer to the bed he figured that was Ildri’s and kicked his feet up. Not sure if she would approve then figured she would tell him to get his feet off if she had a problem.
Not a moment too soon she came out of the bathroom looking like hell. Smirking he knew that he looked the exact same way and were in the same boat. Hearing her say good morning he was sure she didn’t know what time it was and to be quite honest neither did he. Looking at the closed curtains he could open them up and check but why egg on both of there hang overs with bright light. He knew both of them could make the room quite bright if they wanted to with out opening them.

Ildri’s room was a medium green with a dark green trim and ceiling. She had decided to paint it green when she got here a few years ago because it reminded her of the forest. At heart she really was a bird and preferred spending much of her time outside rather than inside. For the school though she had to spend much of her time inside, and it was a sacrifice she was willing to make due to the fact that she would be able to just freelance design work instead of working at a minimum wage job. Sure she probably didn’t really have much of a need for money, but it did help for when you had to keep up appearances around the humans that she came in contact with. After all, it did look extremely weird when a person didn’t seem to have a need to eat or drink anything. Anyway though, it was in this room that she found Logan. Apparently he still had her keys and decided to just let himself in. It reminded her slightly of when Alfred waltzed into her room, but Logan didn’t seem to notice the pictures that covered the walls. They were all of her with other people, and they were all clearly from quite a long time ago. Before high definition cameras were around and before the styles of today.
She ran a hand through her, quickly drying, hair, and sat herself on her bed. The body temperature she ran at made her hair dry pretty fast, but the cool water calmed the pounding slightly so even if it didn’t last that long she was fine with it. Hearing Logan’s statement she smiled slightly and flopped herself onto her bed which was next to the desk. The girl wasn’t entirely sure how well it would work against her hangover, but the thought was appreciated at least. ”Thanks. Though, I’m guessing that’s not your only reason for being here.” she said simply. It was probably just a fact. It really was hard to explain while drunk and slurring all over the place, so she was going to have to do so now. The only thing was where should she even start? Maybe she should just ask and save herself the trouble of finding a spot to start with being that there were quite a few places she could do so. Ah well, maybe she should take some advil first so she could concentrate. Thus she reached over and swiped the advil before popping two in her mouth and taking the coffee that he hadn’t been drinking from and sipped at it. Honestly she should probably be drinking water with pills, but oh well too late for that now being that she was already drinking coffee. It wasn’t something she particularly enjoyed, but it would wake her up and hopefully fix her headache. That was what caffeine did right?
”Well…where do you want me to start?” she asked while making herself more comfortable with a few pillows under her arms and the coffee sitting comfortably in her hands. She tilted her head back and forth and an audible crack from her neck definitely made her feel better. Well here went nothing because at this point she really didn’t have anything to hide. What she was would have to be her biggest secret, and being that she was drunk it seemed she didn’t really have much of a care for that fact and thus ended up spewing it. Really she could have made up something as to why she could drink so much, but at the time she was pretty much incapable of thinking in any sort of linear fashion. Thus, she ended up stating that she wasn’t human, oh well as long as not too many random humans knew she would be fine. Unless they started telling everyone else about her, which reminded her that she would have to remind a certain American nation to keep his mouth shut seeing as she was pretty sure he didn’t know how to do so on his own.

Looking around Ildri’s dorm he noticed pictures that seemed old. Not just ones that were photo shopped to seem like they were old but actually were pretty dated. Looking a bit more closely she was with different people in all of them. This only confirmed what she was saying was true and not just a drunk ramble. Leaning back in to the chair once again he took another sip of his coffee. He wasn’t sure what he was going to ask or how to begin but he supposed from the beginning would be nice. Or maybe a cliff notes version if the story was to long, he didn’t want to bring up painful memories for Ildri. Before he would even muster up the courage to ask Ildri broke the ice. Nodding to her statement there was more reason’s he was there than just to return her key.
Logan watch as Ildri reached for the pills he placed on her nightstand. He figured that he would let her get comfortable before bombarding her with questions. He knew if he had a long explanation he would want the same from her. So sitting there sipping at his coffee he patiently waited it’s not like he was ready to jump down her throat about it. It wasn’t as if she was that different from him, ok well she was but he was a mutant he could understand being different. It wasn’t a new concept for him at least, plus there powers were similar. Logan thought it was kind of awesome knowing someone else who would set things on fire. Made him feel less alone with his destructive powers, which is if he got mad they could be. He wondered what kind of battle it would be between them fire vs fire, it probably wouldn’t go anywhere. Turning his attention back to Ildri she asked where he wanted to start. Figuring this was his time to ask questions he straightened up a bit.
“Well I guess we can start from the beginning. I mean obviously we don’t have to get in to deep to your past. It’s not like we are best friends forever.”
Logan laughed as he tried to lighten the situation up. It was hard for him to be too serious unless the situation called for it, but he figured this conversation could use a little light. He wondered if he should even pry or just back out now. It wasn’t too late she hadn’t started her story. Then again it might make her feel lighter telling someone, he wasn’t sure how girls worked. He knew the only person he liked telling crap to was a close friend. Not that he didn’t enjoy Ildri’s company but he wouldn’t call them close friends. Then again after this they might become closer, not that he would mind.
He did want to let her know that he wouldn’t tell anyone. Since it obviously wasn’t his secret to share. He also figured that she wouldn’t have even let him on this secret if she hadn’t been drunk and accidentally spilled. In a way he wasn’t sure if he should be offended. Logan just brushed it off as he probably wouldn’t tell a lot of people either if he was something completely different. Hell he didn’t tell anyone he was a mutant besides close-knit friends and his family. Which he really couldn’t hide a secret like that from his family. His mother knew from a young age that he was different kind of hard to not figure that one out.

Ildri watched as Logan seemed to look around her room at all of the pictures that were hanging on the wall. She had far more back at the house she owned, but she couldn’t bring all of them and these ones were the most portable that was for sure. Some of them were quite large and paintings so they weren’t practical to transport by any means even if you could fly. Besides, she didn’t want them getting accidentally damaged in her room or something if someone was screwing around. Anyway though she was going to go right ahead and ask if he was here for something else. Well, she didn’t even really ask about it just came right out and stated it. It was pretty obvious after all that was for sure.
Anyway though she needed pills and coffee before any questions were answered that was for sure. Her head needed to stop pounding and cold water definitely only worked for so long. She could use another dousing of it actually, but that required getting up and she was not keen on that at the moment certainly. She was comfy where she was and definitely wanted to stay in her current position. Thus she cuddled up with a pillow and her coffee and pondered on where to start. Certainly she was going to wait for him to say where, but she would think of her own spots to start in case he gave her free reign over it. Though that would leave her with basically no idea, but luckily enough he did give her a place to start. He wanted her to start at the beginning? She was guessing he meant the original beginning and not the second one. ”I’m assuming you mean the first one. Phoenixes burst into flames and are reborn from the ashes every 1000 years, so I actually have two beginnings.” she noted deciding to give an interesting detail about her. He knew how old she was, and while he could probably do the math on that, she wasn’t sure if he remembered the number exactly so she did the math for him.
She wouldn’t exactly call the two of them best friends forever either, but if he wanted an explanation she would give him one. It was her own fault for drunkenly rambling about it anyway, so she might as well clear up any questions he may have. Which, hopefully wasn’t a huge amount because she wasn’t sure she could handle that much right now. His next question made her smile slightly. ”Good, it isn’t something I would typically tell someone. I mean….most people wouldn’t take the fact that I’m not exactly human all that well. I can turn into a phoenix whenever I want. I just don’t usually do so around civilization; it’s a little weird to see a bird that looks like flames flying around. Also, there is the fact that I basically burst into flames when I shift.” she stated with a shrug. It was true enough after all and one of the main reasons she didn’t shift. She ran a hand through her hair and shrugged a bit.
”The beginning? Well I started as a phoenix and while I was a kid I ended up shifting human on accident. A few humans ended up sort of adopting me and I stayed with them for a while. I learned how to talk and a bunch of other things. Lit some people who tried to marry me on fire. I ended up leaving before they could arrange one for me, so I just started jumping from town to town. Learned the languages and then moved on again before anyone got suspicious of the fact that I wasn’t aging. I’ve lived in most of the countries of the world at this point, and did my best to avoid the wars. Eventually I was reborn in a burst of flames and spent my second childhood as an orphan. I jumped countries again until I ended up here.” she said simply with a vague shrug. That was the seriously abridged version of her life that was for sure. ”Now…what questions do you have?” she asked him before taking another sip of her coffee.

Logan listened intently as she began explaining she had two beginnings. He wondered how she could remember both if she was reborn again, but he supposed technically she was the same person with the same memories. Thinking about how it worked he wanted to ask but it’s not like she was going anywhere and couldn’t ask her more about a phoenix’s memories later. His headache was taking another round in his brain and figured hers was doing the same. Hold his head for a second he let it go and grabbed the water he brought for himself taking a drink from it. The coffee was waking him up but it seemed to be making his head pound harder. So he put his coffee cup down and decided to take a small break from it.
“So do you remember every past life? Or after a while do you start forgetting them? And how many times can you be reborn?”
Logan wasn’t sure how Phoenix’s worked since he had never came across one. He grinned that she mentioned he was taking it so well. Then again there weren’t many things that surprised him. Now if she was a talking bird that might be a different story but she was in human form. He wondered what she looked like in bird form; she explained that she had flames around her. He would want to see that in person, not that Ildri wasn’t good looking in human form but he bet she looked spectacular in phoenix form. Letting his thoughts take his mind away for a moment he snapped back when she began her story. He wondered if Phoenix’s can stay in bird form forever with out a wish of ever taking shape of a human. Logan also couldn’t help but wonder where her original parents where.
“So if you wanted to be a phoenix forever could you, never returning to your human state?”
Logan chuckled as Ildri explained how people tired to marry her and she lit them on fire. That was something he would want to see not anyone getting hurt; but Ildri getting so riled up that her temper got away from her. He was amazed when she told him she knew many languages and pretty much has been a nomad traveling everywhere. He figured being an eternal creature that she’d get lonely from time to time. But wasn’t going to bring that up, what an asshole move that would be. Feeling pain for Ildri as she explained in her second life… this life she was an orphan. He wasn’t sure what to say or if she even cared. He felt like he needed to say something but the words just weren’t finding there way out of his mouth so he kept it shut. Finally he found some words but they weren’t the words he had originally planned.
“So do you remember your parents at all? Or are phoenix’s more of a solitary being?”
He steered his mind away that Ildri was some breakable girl. Obviously she had been doing well for herself for two life times, she was more than capable of taking care of her self. She wasn’t one to be messed with and he had to respect how strong she was. So pushing the image of Ildri needing a protector out of his mind he took another sip of his water trying to think of another question. Logan didn’t want to get to nosey since if she wanted to stop at any time she could and tell him enough was enough if she wanted. He thought about his words carefully, and honestly he wasn’t sure what else he did want to know. He knew she could be reborn, she knows many languages, she has the power of fire and shifting in to her natural form a bird.

The first question made her ponder for a bit. ”Memories do tend to fade over time, so I assume I’ll start forgetting eventually. For now though I remember and as far as I know it’s unlimited. I honestly don’t really know that much about phoenixes myself. Only from what I’ve read in books mostly and some of the things that lore says they can do I’m not sure about my capabilities of.” she said with a slight shrug. She may know more than him, based on experience, but she still didn’t exactly know a whole lot. She spent most of her time around humans and it did seem like a Phoenix was a slightly solitary creature so they weren’t easy to find most of the time, and thus she couldn’t ask. Not to mention that she had a limited understanding of the language due to the fact that she was adopted away from her real parents at about six years old. Made it hard to learn the language if you weren’t typically exposed to it, and that exposure is how she had learned pretty much every other language she knew. If you are living something then you are far more likely to pick up on it than if you were just taking classes about it or something.
His next question made her shrug. ”I assume so. I don’t think I’d want to though.” she said with a slight frown. She’d have to hide in forests and be basically alone, and if she was used to it then maybe she would be able to manage, but she had been around humans for so long that she wasn’t used to being alone. Thus, she didn’t want to be alone, which was why she didn’t just stay in her bird form. He then asked about her parents and she shrugged. ”I remember them, and they are kind of solitary, but I’m not used to that. I did find them once again, but they can’t talk like humans can and I have about a six year old’s understanding of the language….so there’s kind of a barrier there. They move like I do, only from forest to forest if humans get too close. I haven’t seen them since being reborn.” she said simply. It had been a while that was for sure. Sure she would love to ask them about what she could do and how, but she didn’t know what the words for it were. It wasn’t as if there was a phoenix to human dictionary anywhere either, so unless she decided to stay with them for a long period of time she wouldn’t understand, and even then it would be iffy on if she would ever really pick up the language.
The next question was a much lighter one, and she smiled slightly. ”I have far more paintings, ones that are larger and older that I didn’t bring because transporting them is a pain and I didn’t want them to get damaged accidentally. I have a house deep in a forest in Europe. I keep stuff I don’t want to get broken or it’s too big to easily transport there. It’s pretty far into the forest, and the chances of someone coming across it are pretty slim, so they will be safe there.” she noted with a shrug. That was her logic on the subject anyway. ”Anything else?” she asked simply. She could answer most questions he would have more than likely, but there would be some that she probably couldn’t answer. After all, not even she knew her limitations very well.

Thinking about memories he wondered if he was hard to not get her two pasts mixed up. Although one being more recent than the other it could still get confusing. As Ildri explained that she hadn’t met any phoenix’s he could only imagine how frustrating it would be not to be able to talk to your own kind. He had sort of the same experience since his mother and sister don’t have powers. They never fully understood him the way he wanted them too, but they loved him either way. Logan knew that Ildri had parents but having to move away from them it must have been hard. Unless she really didn’t view them as her family, Logan really didn’t want to get in to that subject though. Hearing her say she read mostly things out of books that helped her figure out capabilities and things of that sort, he couldn’t help but pause. He never even thought of reading about Phoenix’s online or out of books. Shoot he could have skipped this uncomfortable conversation with her. Logan would have felt terrible though knowing he knew her secret but Ildri have no idea he did. He figured it was better this way, so everything was out in the open.
Nodding his head he understood why she wouldn’t want to be in Phoenix form forever. It would be scary to have to be alone for the rest of your however many lives you’re going to live. Ildri didn’t seem too much like a social person to him, but more than locking her self in her dorm day and night. I mean she had to be sort of social to be willing, well… maybe not willing but compromising with him and talking about her secret. Not that he thought he was special in any way shape or form because of her opening up to him. Listening to her talk about her parents seemed to rain a bit on the mood. Again he could imagine how it feels not to talk to a parent, though it wasn’t due to a language barrier. Just a barrier of his father disappearing and never wanting to come back and actually be a responsible parent. Logan wondered how they could not want their daughter to come home and be with them. Even if they shifted in to human form and lived among humans for a while just to be around her.
“So why can’t your parents come live in the human world? I understand you maybe couldn’t ask them to, or they just plain don’t want to. Its just your there daughter, how could they not want to be around you? Am sorry if I’m stepping on toes here, it’s just I can relate and those are the questions I’d ask my father if I could. Maybe not now, I’d probably set just him on fire for being a bastard and walk away.”
Feeling his emotions heat up, he could feel his body temperature rising. His emotions weren’t something he liked to let slip away from him because he usually ended up in flames. So he began taking in deep breaths and exhaling them out his nose. Calming him self down to the point where he was more cool he look a sip of coffee. He was glad when she answered his questions about her house changing the subject of parents all together. He imagined a big house in the woods, covered with moss and vines. How beautiful the house must be deep in a wooded area, with no one to bother you just living in peace. Logan couldn’t help but wonder how big these damn pictures were. He understood that she wouldn’t want time to get damaged it not like she could go back in time and get new ones. And from the pictures littered around her room of her, they seemed like antiques something you couldn’t put a price on if you lost them.

Ildri did not, in fact, get her pasts mixed up. She thought of them more as one long life than two different lives. That was just how it felt though even if she appeared to be younger, what she knew didn’t change. It was far more difficult to keep track of the places she had been. After all, before recently, she hadn’t really needed a passport, and applying for one would have been quite a pain. It meant that she would have had to fake a few documents to even come here. It was far easier to travel about when you didn’t need to fake an id every hundred years. After all, they were a far more recent addition to prove who a person was. Before they would take your word for it and let you pass, and now it was just overly complicated. Though, honestly, she didn’t apply for one and just decided to pretend to be a bird and fly her way over and ship her stuff to herself without too much issue. She had already known her new address, and it was far easier to do it this way than faking a bunch of paperwork. Sure that probably meant she wasn’t exactly here legally, but nobody had to know that. Besides, she could always get one she supposed and being that she was here for school they couldn’t technically kick her out. She could always fake that she actually lived here or something. Either way, she had more questions to answer and should probably do so.
He seemed to understand why she didn’t want to stay as a bird forever, being that she would be alone aside from other animals. Though she wasn’t sure how well they would take to a bird that spouts fire, and so she would stay with humans for now. Unless she decided that she was done with them for some reason. It would have to be pretty drastic though, and so for now she would continue to deal with the pain that came with losing friends every hundred years or so. She may not be the most social person on the planet, but she was social enough to need it at times. Then Logan started talking about her parents and asking why they couldn’t just come live in the human world and such. It was a complicated subject after all, and sometimes it was hard to consider them her actual parents. Then again, her adoptive ones didn’t seem like parents much of the time either. Did that mean she was just some sort of perpetual orphan? Maybe, but she was going to figure it out later. ”Well…my power is turning human. They can’t turn human, and thus couldn’t come to the human world. They’re essentially just birds, and once the baby bird leaves the nest it doesn’t really come back or make visits. At least, not to them being with your parents and visiting them is a human thing.” she explained with a slight sigh. It just wasn’t in their nature to want or need to be with her. They didn’t have human thoughts or feelings at all.
She watched him seeming to try and calm himself down and blinked at him as he did so. Clearly the question had got him a bit worked up or something. Must have been the mention of his dad, or maybe that he thought he could relate. It was a little different though. His dad didn’t leave because of instinct or anything like that. It was more probably because he was a douche. She didn’t know him so she couldn’t judge, but that’s what it seemed like to her. Either way though, they were going to move onto the next question of where exactly her house was. Well…that was actually a good question. Was she sure where it was even? Well, if she was flying there she knew where it was, but to find it on a map would be more difficult. ”Uhm…..I think it’s Germany. Hard to say though, usually I don’t have to really know where the borders are and just go there by flying.” she said with a shrug. ”When I’m not spending time anywhere else I’ll go pop in for a few days. It’s very quiet though so I don’t usually stay long.” she noted simply. Now, did he have any other questions for her? She wasn’t sure what else he could ask about that she would be able to answer.

“Oh well if that’s your power, then what other powers can you have as a phoenix? And that’s so weird to think you can’t go back.”
Logan was very curious with this wondering if they were like mutants in a way. They all had different powers that could be used. It was hard to think of birds being able to shift in to humans was Ildri was an example it could happen. He wondered if she would have preferred to stay a bird if she had never changed but knew she could. It must be hard losing people every 60 years or so depending how long they lived. He wondered if this is why she mostly was content with being by herself. To be quite honest Logan would have probably been the same way. It would be hard to get to known someone really well to know that they will eventually die and you won’t. He felt uncomfortable for a moment it was hard to think of his sister dying before himself. She wasn’t that much younger but it would still be weird because he was her older brother. He but his lip trying to toss the thought away but it was a hard one to get rid of. Took another drink of his water a small headache making it’s way through.
“Hey Ildri will you pass me the aspirin, my damn head is pounding over here. This is a lot to take in! Not in a bad way though just a oh wow I never thought I’d meet someone like you in my life.”
Laughing his head starts to pound a bit more so he grabs his head grumbling a bit. He thought he had this whole hang over situation under control. His friend from high school always used to say the best way to get over a hang over is to drink it away. Logan couldn’t help but give a small smile at the thought. It was true to some extent; usually it just made the hang over worse the next day. Well at least for Logan it never failed to make him want to stay in bed for a week. But he couldn’t then and couldn’t now he had things that needed to get done and weren’t going to wait. Thankfully he was smart about drinking this time or perhaps it was just luck that he had nothing do in school for a while. Work was slow also giving him the shittiest hours but he took them. He didn’t have a choice in the matter and money is money even if it’s not enough to buy food for a week. He just held on to the thought of one day he’s be rolling in cash. Hell he could even smoke a hundred if he wanted too and still have enough. This all was enough motivation for him to stay in school and keep his nose clean.
“Ah well I suppose that makes sense you wouldn’t know. And it sounds like heaven, you own place in the wilderness? Man that sounds like somewhere I would go ever summer if I could. I’d just turn everything off from normal life and sit there. Ok maybe not just sit there I’d probably figure out world hunger or something.”Word Count:548 Tag: Ildri/Cal Notes: One owed post!

Hearing Logan’s question she sighed slightly. That was part of the problem now wasn’t it? She just had no idea, and needed to look more up and find more information. ”I don’t really know honestly. There are a lot of variations in legend. I’ve heard I can grant immortality, but I wouldn’t know how to even go about that, or if I would want to.” she noted with a slight frown. Unless she had a damn good reason, she couldn’t think of why she’d want to give a human immortality. They would have to watch all their friends and loved ones die as they remained the same age, and they couldn’t exactly just explain that a phoenix gave them immortality and thus they weren’t aging anymore. That was a good way to get them locked away in a padded room of some sort. Humans didn’t believe what could be right in front of them at times, and so she tended to not tell people what she was, but apparently several people were now told and she was making friends again. It was probably stupid of her to do so, being that she would outlive the humans, but she at least would be able to continue talking to the nations that she met. That was a good thing at least.
Logan asked for the Aspirin though and she handed to him. ”This is one of the reasons why I don’t typically mention it. Either they think I’m crazy, or they do believe me and are a little overwhelmed by what I am.” she noted simply with a slight frown, but he was laughing, so clearly he wasn’t really upset by it. Thus she wondered if he had any other questions to ask her. There really was a lot that she didn’t know about herself, and she wished that the humans hadn’t taken her away in the first place. Or, well did she? It was a complicated concept, because she did want to know more about herself, but she didn’t really want to just forget all the friends she had and all the interesting adventures from traveling around the world. Besides, now that she was here, she might as well try and enjoy it a little and just either figure things out as she went, or not bother with it and figure things out when it became a problem she would have to deal with.
”For just a summer it probably would be nice, but for years at a time…not so much. It’s not bad, I do rather enjoy the peace, but there is such a thing as too much peace.” she noted with a slight sigh. He’d figure out world hunger? Well, she wished him luck with that honestly because she was sure if there was a way to cure it, then it would have probably been figured out by now.

“Yeah I don’t think you would really want to do that. Well unless you found true love with someone. But like you said how to go about that it probably wouldn’t be easy. Not to mention they would have to known that they were going to be immortal forever. It won’t be an easy choice for them, or you if you grant it.”
Logan shuffled in his seat for a moment and found another comfortable spot. It was different talking about granting immortality he could only imagine what a spot she would be in if she did. The person she’s granting a life like that too might eventually regret it even come to hate Ildri for doing it in the first place. He didn’t want to bring this up figuring she probably knew the risks. Maybe it would be better if she never figured out how to grant something of that nature if she even could. He chewed on the thought for a bit before giving up on it. There was no reason to dwell on the matter it wasn’t even his powers. He did now consider Ildri a friend of some degree since she was sharing such vital information with him. It’s not like he could forget this conversation although he really wouldn’t want to. He wasn’t scared either to find out what she was but a second over whelmed. It was nothing he couldn’t handle though he was Logan Gray and he could handle anything.
“I can see why a person wouldn’t believe you. But your way to serious to not be believable. Possibly you could look like your dabbling on being crazy, with sitting on top of library shelves. Then again I’m sure not many people get books accidentally dropped on them. I’m not trying to irritate you Ildri just trying to lighten the mood.”
Logan couldn’t help but grin and placed his hands on his lap. He couldn’t help but feel as if he did lighten the mood just a bit. Grabbing the asprin from Ildri he opened the bottle and took two out. Putting them in his mouth he opened his water taking a drink. His head was pounding a bit more then he would like, hoping that it would calm his headache down. He figured maybe all this information was hurting his brain more than he bargained for. He had questions but they could wait until he got control back. So he sat there listening about how her house was nice but not for years at a time. Logan agreed it would be a fun summer get away but to live there for years. He would probably go mad which is why Ildri probably stayed near humans instead of away.
“I can believe that, it wouldn’t mind going for a summer. If that is allowed or would that be too much Logan in a too tiny of a space? But keep in mind I do know how to cook and cleaning isn’t a specialty of mine then again I’m not a huge slob either.”
Was he really asking her if he cold go with her one time to her house in the woods? He almost laughed out loud because it sounded absurd in his head. Logan also didn’t want Ildri getting the wrong idea. She had just told him about how she might be able to turn people immortal. It was too late he had all ready asked and would look like an even bigger moron if he asked her to forget the whole idea.Word Count:591 Tag: Ildri/Cal Notes: None

At Logan’s statement she sighed slightly. She already knew that, and was dealing with it herself. ”I’m well aware. I’m immortal after all and know that it’s not exactly easy to watch your friends die over and over again. Anyone that asks for immortality is a moron.” she said as she gestured to the pictures on her walls. It wasn’t really something she wanted to continue talking about. Really she wasn’t a huge fan of how she lived forever, and unless your friends also lived forever, you were stuck being alone. Some people were okay with being alone, but Ildri was not. Maybe if she was a normal phoenix, but she wasn’t and so would continue to make some friends and have to deal with them growing older while she stayed the same. Though, if she was mortal then she wouldn’t have seen so many amazing sights and learned so many things through the years. So it did have a few advantages, but there were definitely downsides to it. She just had to deal with it though, because she really didn’t have an alternative.
Then he explained why he could see why a person wouldn’t believe her. ”Even when I sound completely serious, I’ve had someone think I was just out of my head. If I just showed a person, then they thought of themselves as crazy, and so I just don’t really tell anyone. I didn’t mean to drop a book on you, I was trying to put it back.” she said with a slight pout at him. If she had meant to drop a book on him, then he wouldn’t have gotten a warning and would have been hit with said book. ”I’m essentially a bird in some ways, I like high places.” she said continuing to pout at him and pushing some of her red hair behind her ear. It was true enough being that she did have some bird habits. Like climbing up trees or sitting on top of book shelves. She would much rather be up in the air than on the ground, and so she tried to spend much of her time in the air. Maybe she should invest in a loft bed at some point then, being that she would probably like it more. They didn’t have them last time she bought furniture, and so she didn’t have one currently. Maybe she’d redecorate soon though and get some more modern furniture. Sure hers was probably hardly used, but it was definitely getting old and possibly even falling apart.
Anyway though, then Logan asked about going with her for a summer and she blinked at him. ”Well, cooking isn’t really much of an issue. I can cook, but I don’t actually need to eat, so you’d only be feeding yourself. It’s just a matter of figuring out which country it’s located in and where you’d have to go in order to get there. It does give me an excuse to redecorate it though. I haven’t done so in a while.” she mused simply with a slight shrug. It wouldn’t be that big of a deal, she would just have to figure some things out first. Things that were important if you had to take a plane rather than just flying yourself there. She could just wander to the nearest town too and grab stuff easily, but she had to figure out the name of said town and the country it was in. After all, borders had changed several times since she was born and had been to the places initially. Town names changed, or there were towns where there hadn’t been before, and so she hadn’t really figured out the names of some of them. ”Other than that, I don’t really have an issue with it. Just so long as you don’t have an issue walking through the woods for a bit.” she said simply with a shrug.

Logan lowered his eyes to the ground. He didn’t mean to sound like a jerk but that’s the way to sort of came out. He knew it had to be hard on Ildri to see people die. He knew one day if they still knew each other she would watch him being lower in to the ground. Only being able to imagine how that would feel he figured it sucked. Then again it’s not like you can jump out of immortality. Once you’re in that club there isn’t much of a turning back point. He shook his head as she said anyone who wants immortality is a moron. Maybe to someone who hadn’t thought about it or was just doing it because they would. But what if someone really fell in love with Ildri. Wouldn’t that be a rational and reasonable choice to choose to be immortal? It would have to be a hard choice; they’d have to eventually watch their family die off one by one. Not that he wouldn’t see his mother pass before him. Logan thought about his sister dying of old age before him. That would crush him in to pieces, he was just happy that he wasn’t gunning for immortality soon.
“I’m sorry I didn’t mean to get you riled up about being immortal. I guess they would be stupid unless they fell in love with you. It would be a tough choice between the life they had and were going to have… What if they wanted to spend forever with you? Would you still think they are a moron?”
Nodding his head he figured she’d have trouble-telling people. Although here it was kind of hard not to believe people when they say something. Since everyone at this school is pretty much a made of comic book character or some sort of fake x-men to the real world. Logan couldn’t help but smile at that, they were all supposed to not be real. Even though Ildri being a phoenix is more mythical weren’t they all just a bit different? He was sure if a normal person saw him on fire running down the street everyone would run. But here if you go up in flames or freeze someone people just walk past like oh you shouldn’t have pissed someone off. It was amazing what a different atmosphere they had here at new world. Then again some people are still skeptics of what others tell them. He wondered if that’s why Ildri didn’t tell people what she was. Afraid of them thinking she was lying, not to mention it was just a lot to explain to people.
“I don’t know you think people would be less narrow minded. Even here some people get n my nerves and this is a school full of people who shouldn’t even exist! Sometimes mutants and humans a like just stun me with how shallow they can be. And ok, ok I believe you were trying to put it back. Well when ever you want to venture up to the top of library shelves again just give me a call I’ll sit up there with yah. We can drop books on people.”
Laughing to himself he couldn’t help but slide in dropping books on people. He knew Ildri really wasn’t trying to crush him with a book. But it was always fun to poke at her and make fun. He couldn’t help it even if he tried. Logan thought of himself as a funny guy and in result he tried to be. His grin spread wider as Ildri gave thought to him going with her to her house in the woods. He imagined this magnificent house standing so alone but so brave in the middle of nowhere. As night the forest would light up with all sorts of screeches and howls from the nocturnal creatures. He was all ready getting excited and Ildri was only mulling the idea over not even giving him a definite yes at this point. It was exciting, even if it meant he would be gone a bit longer from his family but he deserved a vacation. The middle of nowhere in a forest sounded like he had just hit the jackpot!
“I can cook and feed myself. I’m pretty good at making things; even basics are fine with me. Hey if you figure out where your house it I will help you redecorate. I’ll even paint if you want me too or rearrange furniture. And walking through the woods? Nope I love myself nature hikes, as long as I can see your fire wings in the distance it will be all right with me.”Word Count:778 Tag: Ildri/Cal Notes: Finally replying back!

Ildri hadn’t meant to sound as bitter as she probably did, but she couldn’t help it. She didn’t need someone to tell her what she already knew. After all, she had been alive for quite some time now, and knew the consequences that came with being immortal. Anyone that would be willing to do it probably had no idea what they were getting themselves into. She certainly wouldn’t be granting it unless she had a seriously convincing reason. Hearing his statement she sighed. ”I’ve been alive a long time Logan. I’ve avoided relationships so I don’t have to make someone choose. Is spending forever with me worth watching everyone die? Let me tell you, the bubonic plague was a shitty time to be alive let alone immortal.” she noted while pulling her knees up to her chest so that her chin was leaning on them. She wasn’t sure being with her would make whoever find immortality worth it. Especially with the way she explained it as if it was a sort of curse. Which, as far as she was currently concerned, it was one. Sure she had seen some amazing things, but was it worth the cost? Sometimes it almost was, but other times not so much. Maybe she wouldn’t have met so many amazing people, or be at this school, if she was mortal, but it wasn’t natural to live this long. She was older than some of the nations, and that was saying something.
He started talking again about how people were. ”Try having someone want to arrange a marriage with you. Don’t even get me started on people. There are so many assholes in the universe that only care about what they want and not what anyone else wants.” she said while tucking a strand of red hair behind her ear. It wasn’t as if she had only met nice people along her travels. There were plenty of people that just wanted to watch the world burn. ”I stopped being surprised by the levels of ass people could be about five hundred years ago. There are a few people that get a league of their own, but otherwise it’s pretty much same shit different decade.” she stated with a roll of her eyes. Every generation had it’s quirks that others thought were radical and horrible. She just nodded when he said they could drop books on people. Her mood wasn’t really that great at the moment even with Logan’s attempt to lighten it.
She found that she didn’t even really want to talk too much anymore. That instead she would rather just curl up and hide for a while, but that wasn’t really possible. There were certain topics she really didn’t like discussing in detail, and Logan had hit a nerve even though he hadn’t meant to. It wasn’t as if she had stated she didn’t want to talk about immortality, so it was her own fault she didn’t expect him to talk about it so much. Nothing she could do about it now though. She was torn between wanting to set things on fire and cry. The girl wondered what to even do now. He was talking about coming to stay with her, but she would have to figure things out first. She just let him talk and listened as he did so. Mostly it was just him talking without needing answers anyway, so she could just watch and listen without really having to comment in the slightest. Not something she usually liked doing, but it would have to do for now.
