This here is Roa or Zea...also known as Akaroa Greenstone or New Zealand. Her gift showed itself just as the New Zealand Wars ended in 1872. She discovered the ability to prevent the use of other gifts. Most of the time, it’s pretty much useless, but other times it comes in handy. She is able to spread that influence in a radius around her that is smaller or larger, depending on intent but it always rests at least on the surface of her skin, preventing invasive gifts or the use of gifts on her. Zea had a very rough childhood, given the break out of a war that lasted nearly 30 years only 5 years after she became a cohesive nation. This resulted in frequent epileptic seizures. Zea’s history has been one of peace, prosperity but also war, though she almost always willingly became a part of the war time situations she was placed in.[/b] sibling like, occasional disagreement, friends
Roa is sweet, almost soft spoken when she does speak up and tends to be an observer rather than a socialite. She has a nervousness to her at times and often stumbles over herself when someone is being forceful or intimidates her in any way. She can be friendly and have an easy manner if she knows you well enough. She has a quick temper but even when she raises her voice it’s fairly quiet and has a darker edge to it. Roa is more than confident in herself, she just lacks the outgoing nature that people generally associate with confidence. She lets others approach her first and is willing to make friends, but mostly she wants to mind her own business, do what she came here to do and perhaps have a little fun doing it.
Friends are bound to happen of course. But as I just explained she can be almost shy despite her extreme confidence. She would rather others approach her first and mostly she wants to be left alone, so people need to be persistent to become her friend, or at least have a point of interest to endear her to them. For all you nations out there, initial contact will be a surprise (once they realize who she is), given over the last seven years she has steadily grown longer hair and now appears with a feminine figure she was previously lacking. This is of course due to changes within New Zealand itself. After all, she hadn’t actually admitted to being female before then.
Enemies is a bit more difficult. She has some people who would intimidate her and would have a harder time befriending her. She also has anyone who wouldn’t like her personality, which is also quite common as a standard form of enemies. But generally speaking, there isn’t much a person can do to cause this kind of relationship. It’d have to be historically driven (like with Russia) or more human-like in relation style to cause this.
I hadn’t really thought about Lovers. I imagine it’d have to be a nation as well... or at least immortal. But then again, she could love a human, and it’d be tragic in the way she’d know he’d eventually wither and die. So I am open to the idea of human romances...but I’ll be picky. Zea doesn’t sleep around. She doesn’t have meaningless sex. She doesn’t swing both ways (she is heterosexual) and though she had a closeness with many nations they are strictly friendly relations. Zea has never been in love, is a bit afraid of the prospect, and currently remains a virgin (this aspect is kept to herself).

Here with have Desna. Desna is not exactly a nation but he certainly isn’t human. He is Antarctica personified and as such has a wide range of skills. Desna has always been able to use his gift, having been left completely alone with no human contact for 108 years, he had plenty of time to develop his skills. Given how resourceful he is, there is no chance he held back anything and as such has ridiculously acute control over what he can do. Desna is very self-sufficient and is able to cook, sew, weave, hunt, carve wood, clean a fresh kill, fish and is exceptionally skilled at finding adequate substitutes for already existing items. Desna has a particular passion for food, given he went 108 years living off of only unseasoned fish, seal and penguin meat (Antarctica is a little lacking in vegetation and animal life).[/b] good friends, appreciative distance
Desna is both serious and innocent in many things. He can be a bit naive, and though he is older than many nations he doesn’t appear as such because he had no idea of the real world until 108 and even then it was limited. He didn’t leave Antarctica until the signing of the Arctic Treaty in December of 1959. Since then he has been both frightened and astounded by human society. Desna can sometimes come across as almost shy in larger groups of people, but he generally wants to socialize. He is hesitant and cautious in any situation that is relatively new to him. Desna is very open and fun loving once he gets past the initial contact of meeting someone new.
When it comes to friends he makes them easily. Des has strong respect for people and is often quick to offer food and drinks as an instinct reaction when meeting new people. He has a need to help others but often gets a bit flustered as to how to help them. Des is very independent and is always sure of what he does in relation to himself but is struggling to translate that into his social relationships. There are few who Des is not friends with and he has the added benefit of being one of the only Hetalians with no direct alliances and no enemy nations. He is mutually protected by 49 different nations and has relations with each of them. He is partially ‘claimed’ by some of these nations but each would have some stake in Desna’s life. This can be interpreted different ways but I’ve found its best interpreted as him sleeping with many nations.
Enemies are not the most likely thing for Des. Some may not care for his personality but that aside there are few other reasons for him to have enemies. Desna doesn’t have a malicious bone in his body and is very considerate of other people. He is used to a survivalist life style and without the help of others would be stuck in an icy wasteland with only select meats and limited resources. He values the abilities of people to help other people and wants to make everyone’s life easier. As such, he generally doesn’t make enemies.
Lovers is something I’ve been thinking about at length for Des. I have determined he wouldn’t be with someone who would eventually age and die. So basically he needs a nation or someone with the gift of immortality. It would have to be someone who is okay with the cold (but doesn’t have to be ecstatic about it) as Des loves snow and ice. He also needs someone who is decently independent, isn’t clingy or restricting and is okay with him sleeping with other people. Lovers would also include people Des sleeps with, and that is quite the list. Des will sleep with anyone and loves the chance to get close and intimate with people. Des has slept with many nations and isn’t as innocent as he often comes across as. He is loyal and honest though, and if someone can get past his desire to be with others in an unattached way, whoever he ends up with will find a strong and affectionate partner in Desna.

This is the sweetheart, Din! He’s from a middle income family living in Vancouver, British Columbia. He was always able to use his gift from a young age, and it was control only by instinct until he started to use it knowingly around the age of 7 years old. Din’s ability allows him to place sounds and images he has seen into people’s minds, including snippets from memories. He can also call up surface memories he knows other’s have. This is often used to string together memories of spoken words to form a sentence from fragments of conversations he has previously been a part of. Din lacks the ability to vocally speak, scream, laugh, cry, what be it. The only sound he can make for himself is whistling because that is merely air passing over the lips. He is studying to become a police officer because he only wishes to help others.[/b] friends
Din is a mixture of cautious and trusting, giving the person the benefit of the doubt, but being cautious enough not to trust them with major tasks. He is a natural leader, though that is often lost on most and he appears shy instead because of his limited abilities to communicate without spoken words. Din has his snarky moments and his witty moments, but mostly he is friendly, calm, caring and very giving. As a person he looks out for others before himself and doesn’t demand a lot from those around him (other than the necessary means to communicate). Din’s temper is a quiet one as well, and when he is angry, his eyes display it with a darkened color and a look that tells you how furious he is. He chooses the cold shoulder method of expressing it, given he can’t exactly yell at the target of his fury.
When it comes to Friends, Din’s friends would have to patient or tolerant people. It would be frustrating at first and a bit of a learning curve for them to come to understand him. This means, they either need to adjust to seeing images and being attentive to the images and sounds Din brings up in their minds, or they need to know or learn sign language. Din is willing to teach people by doing the hand motion and then playing the sound for them in their minds. It’s a lengthy process but it’s the only way he will make friends.
Enemies are naturally a possibility. Din doesn’t have a nasty streak in the least, but he doesn’t speak to those he doesn’t like. Some will see Din as pretentious or stuck up if they are unaware of his circumstances and others may just avoid him for being somewhat unusual. Din is aware he makes some people uncomfortable, given his own mother and father are uncertain how to interact with him. Enemies are not likely to be a large list, but they will exist.Romance is tricky for Din (amazing how all my characters tend to have this issue). He needs someone who can understand his body language and his facial expressions as much as knowing sign language and understanding the images he can show her. Ultimately it’s not exactly enjoyable to have to spell everything out for someone, and having anyone who can understand or at least take hints from other signs would be good. Another good option would be a telepath, given they can just read the thoughts from his mind (even though Din actually thinks in a combination of sounds and images). I am open for ideas here.Din has a Final.

Here we have Ireland!! Also known as Erin Patrick. She is hetalian of course, meaning she is very old (846 years to be precise) and has existed through all the hardships and wonders of Ireland. She has the gift of Aerokinesis and even after all these years she has no control over it. It tends to flare up when she gets emotional but that’s about the only use for it because of her lack of personal control. Erin is a bit bipolar, swaps back and forth between being pleasant and happy to miserable and depressed to angry and aggressive. You never know which Erin you are going to get, but I can guarantee she has been drinking regardless of which state of mind she is in.[/b] acquaintances
Erin may swap between moods but friends are no surprise given she can act one way or another, it’s just a matter of catching her in a mood you prefer. She can be friendly, kind and social or the complete opposite, but generally because she does get into social moods she meets plenty of new people. Erin is a party animal and more than a little fun loving, but at the same time a bit jaded. Friends are bound to happen with her, because of all of this. The good friends are the ones who are able to handle her different moods and don’t hold them against her.
Enemies are going to happen. She gets angry easily, is a bit volatile and doesn’t have the most optimistic outlook on life. She can fight back against any threat or attitude so she isn’t even concerned with making enemies (other than the diplomatic kind cause those REALLY suck). Men are more likely to find themselves here than women, as Erin tends to hold a grudge against guys where she lets the little things go with the ladies.
Erin’s most complicated relations will be Romances. She tends to have on again off again relationships, sleeps around a bit and often can be outright rude and snarky the next morning. She tends to be jaded toward men but also desires to have someone to take care of her. She is constantly struggling with this as she hates and loves emotional relationships and is more than a bit damaged. Erin was married once to Arthur Kirkland (England) for a period of almost 100 years, and she dated Alfred Jones as well for a period of 5 years during that 100 years. She loves and hates both of them, having bouts of jealousy and irritation at those they show interest in but also hating on them at the same time.
As for a Final, it will have to be someone who will live forever (most likely a country) who is willing to take care of her and can deal with her being a bit jealous and possessive. She has a lot of emotional baggage after all. She will always be paranoid of being mistreated or tossed aside and as such she needs someone stable and strong...the opposite of herself. This will be a complicated relationship and will take a LOT of work before it will be even considered, given that her emotional state is a wreck zone.

As a person, Jair is easy to read emotionally, tends to have her heart on her sleeve and is quite trusting and loyal until someone gives her a reason to be otherwise. She is sarcastic and witty, as well as having a fiery temper and a spiteful approach to her enemies. She makes an amazing friend and a terrible enemy. Jair is social, and is able to change the way she is speaking and tailor it to the person she is speaking to. She doesn’t rank people by wealth, skill, abilities or other such nonsense and instead focuses on personality, effort and the way people treat others. She is an efficient over-achiever and even has her nerdy side, with interests in manga, anime and video games.
When it comes to Friends, Jair would have many. Close friends would come in middle size quantities but she has a select group of friends in her inner circle, and a best friend or two. Jair doesn’t care about gender and treats males and females the same, with no distinctions. Jair makes for a very loyal and attentive friend to those who have her friendship and her loyalty along with it. She also treats everyone respectfully, so those who are not her friends may be acquaintances she is on good terms with.
As for Enemies, Jair has her fair share like anyone else. Anyone who has betrayed her can expect the dirtiest treatment she can muster. From the cold shoulder to spreading the darkest truths she knows, Jair can be petty and more than a little spiteful. Some may dislike her, as happens, and people who treat the majority of others like trash can expect her to frequently squash them down to size and stand up for the targets of their rude behaviour. For those who are only considered mean or nasty based on uncontrollable personality traits (like arrogance) she may be their friend still, but is more inclined to tease them about their flaws, to try to humble them.
Romance is the tricky one. Jair is completely naive to romance and could tell a crushing boy from the next boy. She doesn’t pick up on romantic hints or signs and is more than a little clueless as to when someone is interested. She doesn’t put much thought into her love life and is content with her many friends. She isn’t expecting love, so naturally it will come her way. If you have any plot ideas or suggestions, please do let me know. I am going to be particular about who her love interest is, since she may remain my one and only character here.
