HEARTS OF FIRE, STREETS OF STONE MODERN WARRIORS SADDLE IRON HORSES OF CHROME
----------------------------------Of all of the other countries to come across first at New World Academy, why did he have to bump into Russia?
The Cold War was over, but the wary feelings were still there. Russia was creepy as hell, and even though his Soviet Union idea fell through, he still seemed fascinated with the idea of asking people to become one with Russia. It didn't bode well, and Alfred had every intent to keep his eyes on the other nation. After all, what if he was trying to recruit students? He wasn't going to allow that to happen! He'd recruit his own students so that he could stop Russia in his tracks!
The implications and problems that might arise from both former powers of the Cold War doing this failed to hit him just yet...he just knew that he wasn't about to let anyone beat him.
He wasn't going to dwell on it too much though. He was back at the dorm he shared with a young gifted human by the name of Cameron, a human he'd hit it off with pretty well so far. The kid knew how to have fun, and enjoyed a lot of the same things that he did. Why wouldn't he like someone he could just hang out with and play video games and eat burgers with? He wasn't shirking off his duties, but hey, even heroes needed to relax sometimes!
Right now, Alfred was going at a punching bag to get out his frustrations at Ivan and the whole situation. He knew there would be other countries here, but Russia? The Cold War was technically over, but Alfred still didn't trust Ivan. The dude was creepy and just kept...appearing in random places.
That said, Alfred wasn't going at the punching bag at anything near full power. Otherwise, there wouldn't be much of a punching bag left. Seeing as he was alone, he had his shirt off for once - He usually kept one on while working out to hide the scars that he had on his chest and stomach. Cam wasn't around, though, so why bother? Although really, it wasn't like he was working up much of a sweat.
However, this didn't last for long. Alfred heard a click that sounded an awful lot like the door opening, and, in a flash of panic in mid punch, forgot to hold back on his strength. As a result, the punching bag went flying off of it's hook and across the room...and Alfred turned toward the door at once. "Hey, 'sup? I thought you weren't supposed to be back here till later, man."
Otherwise he might have changed his plans up a bit...[/blockquote][/blockquote] ---------------------------------- TEMPLATE CREDIT: eliza @ shadowplay SONG: Ride The Wing by Poison WORD COUNT: 459 TAG: Ali/Cam NOTES: I'm on an 80s music kick >.> <.< ---------------------------------- TASTE THE WILD, LICK THE WIND[/blockquote]

Cam had been on quite an adventure today!
He had popped out of the dorm for a bit with two main priorities. To buy a new video game and to have a Mcdonalds. Priority number one had set off to a good start. He made it into the small town of Prince Edward Island in good time and had managed to purchase a new game that he and his dormmate and best friend Alfred had been wanting to check out of a while. All went spectacularly downhill after this though. Queuing in Mcdonalds excited already for his large big mac meal and chicken nuggets he had become rather irrate when a man had decided to queue jump straight in front of the nineteen year old.
Sometimes Cam acted without thinking...and given that he was particularly hungry this was one of those times. He quickly prodded his finger on the man's ass and started giggling to himself quietly. Luckily for him, he could control the intensity and longevity of his power...the man's ass would be fine by morning! Unfortunately he had picked on the wrong person. The queue jumper turned around. "Did you just pinch my ass kid?!" Cam wiped the grin off his face sensing trouble. "Erm...no?" Before he knew it a giggle escaped his mouth again the man swung at him with his fist. He quickly dodged it before the man stopped, with wide eyes looking behind his shoulder. "My ass! I can't move it! I can't feel it! What have you done to me?!" Cam used his best 'I have no idea what your talking about, you loon' look before running out of the doors. He was pretty sure as he left that the man was now crying like a girl.
It bummed him out that he didn't get his Mcdonalds but nonetheless it had be an hysterical and totally worth it moment. Cam got back to the dorm earlier than expected, his forehead with a sheen of sweat from running. He unlocked the door, now whistling contently to himself swinging the bag with the game in back and forth before entering...and finding Alfred not only shirtless, but a punchbag flying across the room. "What did I miss?!" He entered the room looking at Alfred confused. "Dude wheres your shirt? I feel like I'm in a Right Said Fred video." He chuckled, placing the game down on top of their shared xbox. "Oh yeah...I was going to go get a Mcdonalds but I turned a guys ass to gold instead. What are you doing anyway?" He grabbed a can of Monster from their small fridge before settling himself down into a comfy armchair and looking pointedly at Alfred. HEARTS OF FIRE, STREETS OF STONE MODERN WARRIORS SADDLE IRON HORSES OF CHROME
----------------------------------Alfred had no idea what kind of day Cameron had before he walked in through that door, but he did know that he hadn't expected Cameron back so soon.
"I was just doing some working out."
Alfred stated with a shrug. It would be a suitable explanation were it not for the fact that there was not one bead of sweat on him, nor was he in any way out of breath. What he was doing might have been a workout for anyone else, but it certainly wasn't for Alfred. His gaze followed the trail of the punching bag, which landed somewhere in the bathroom directly across from where Alfred was standing. He made his way over there to assess the damage, though he was already fairly certain that there would be a lot. Sure enough, a peek in the bathroom showed the punching bag had landed on the counter, and the full length mirror behind the sink was cracked and broken. Oops. Stupid Russia. ...yes, it's Russia fault that you forgot to control your own strength, Alfred. Alfred whistled as he headed back to his bed, which was decked out in Captain America bedsheets (because he doesn't have a bit of an inflated ego at all, oh no), and grabbed his shirt off the top of it. Cameron's words caused him to turn around and laugh. "You turned a guy's ass to gold and you didn't get a video of it? Come oooooooon, that would have been priceless on youtube!" Alfred slid on his 'Don't Mess With Texas' shirt facing Cameron with a goofy grin on his face, temporarily forgetting why he usually turned around when he put his shirt on in his amusement...[/blockquote][/blockquote] ---------------------------------- TEMPLATE CREDIT: eliza @ shadowplay SONG: Ride The Wind by Poison WORD COUNT: 300 TAG: Ali/Cam NOTES: 'Don't Mess With Texas' = Don't mess with Alfred's glasses. Cam took a sip of his Monster seconds before Alfred admitted to working out. With this he spat out the contents in his mouth as he burst into laughter. Alfred? Work out? Now why couldn't he have walked in and saw that?! "Since when do you work out, you wannabe jock?!" He grinned at the bespectabled boy across him, bantering around with him. But still, just the thought was highly amusing to him.
Cam's head followed Alfred's gaze and from where he was sitting he could make out the damage of the bathroom. He gave Alfred a look of 'shit, were in trouble now!'. After all, there dorm was already a mess. There were pizza boxes littered about, empty cans of lager that hadn't been cleared away from the kitchenette surface, holes in the wall, marks in the carpeted tiles, random things turned to gold...it was going to be an interesting day when they handed back the keys that was for sure. There was even the constant faint smell of weed that never seemed to leave the dorm, considering the two regularly smoked a joint or two to relax whilst playing video games. Anyway a smashed mirror now added to the chaotic mess. "What are you...the Hulk or something?" Cam stood up to also observe the damage pondering. Maybe Alfred had superstrength? That would explain a lot. But it wouldn't explain why he hadn't told him in the first place.
Cam's thoughts were disturbed momentarily as Alfred laughed at what Cam had been up to today. "I wish I had. I'd watch it at least ten times a day. I'd be responsible for a crazily high amount of viewings thats for sure!" He took another sip from his Monster as Alfred picked up a shirt to pull on. He noted the slogan with a grin and had begun to turn around to make his way back to his seat when he suddenly stopped and stared at Alfred's torso. There were some very nasty looking scars and Cam raised an eyebrow at these. He had never seen them before. In fact there wern't only scars on his body that Cam could see but also a particularly nasty looking one on his neck. "No homo or anything but...whats with the scars? I didn't know you had those! You look like you've been in the war!"
Ahhhh if only he knew how ironic this statement actually was. Tags: Alfred/Mandee Listening to: The Blackout Thoughts: Lonely Island reference xD Word count: 474

HEARTS OF FIRE, STREETS OF STONE MODERN WARRIORS SADDLE IRON HORSES OF CHROME
----------------------------------The bespectacled "boy" rolled his eyes, though he was also grinning. "I've always worked out. Have to find some way to stay in shape, what with the way everyone keeps telling me I'll get fat with my diet."
Now he looked annoyed for real. He had a little bit of extra chub on him, but was it really that bad? He just liked food! Alfred had to laugh when Cameron compared him to the Hulk. "I prefer Captain America over the Hulk, thanks." Of course he preferred Captain America. The superhero shared his name. That and he'd held a theory for a long time that Captain America was actually based after him. It was highly unlikely, but that didn't stop Alfred from thinking this way nonetheless. There were some interesting similarities... "Why did you turn the guy's ass into gold, anyway? He steal your Big Mac?" Hey, it was a good enough reason as any. It felt a bit weird talking about a guy's golden ass, though, he had to admit. Which was why he was happy for a change of subject... ...until he heard what exactly that change of subject was. Alfred paused, the grin dropping abruptly from his face. His first thought was to play it off. He even had a line waiting - He would make reference to the line 'Do you know where I got these scars?' from The Dark Knight and would make something up. Hopefully the use of a joke would throw Cameron off of his trail, but then another idea popped into his head. He didn't know why Ivan was here, and he was still paranoid that it had something to do with Russia trying to build up an army again. Alfred looked at Cameron with a rare contemplative look on his face. If that was the case, Alfred didn't want to fall behind...and Cameron could very well be his first recruit. Again, the fact that he might be getting ahead of himself and starting something himself didn't occur to him. He decided to give Cameron the true story behind his scars. Nevertheless, he still looked a bit uneasy, given that it wasn't a subject he generally talked about in the presence of humans. Other nations, yes, but humans? Very few humans knew who he was other than his bosses and former bosses, the Presidents and Ex Presidents of the United States. "They're from 9/11." Alfred stated. "All four crashes." Oh, he'd be certain to ask questions now...and those were just the more recent scars.[/blockquote][/blockquote] ---------------------------------- TEMPLATE CREDIT: eliza @ shadowplay SONG: Ride The Wind by Poison WORD COUNT: 474 TAG: Ali/Cam NOTES: Lonely Island <3 ---------------------------------- TASTE THE WILD, LICK THE WIND[/blockquote]

Even at Alfred's look of annoyance, Cam still found amusement in what he was saying. He kept on grinning at his friend and let out a chuckle at his small rant over people telling him off for his diet. They DID have a point to be fair...Cam remembered ordering pizza one night and Alfred ordering himself two large pizza's as well as a few sides just to himself. He had even finished the lot off and had been complaining about still being hungry, if Cam could recall correctly. They, aswell as Cam, did not know the true reasons of why he seemed to have a pit for a stomach. Well not long for Cam anyway. Besides Cam enjoyed being buddies with someone who could eat like a horse - at least the random bits of food they did buy every so often got eaten and Cam had someone to share munchies with whenever they smoked a spliff or two.
Mmmm. This Monster was going down real good. As Alfred remarked on his Hulk comment Cam lifted his can as a salute gesture - he had loquid in his mouth and didn't want to spit anymore out and ruin some more carpet. He was pretty sure that the carpet alone would cost them a couple of hundred dollars. He was glad to have swallowed his drink though when Alfred asked him about why he had exactly chosen to turn a guys ass to gold. "Dude if he had stolen my big mac, David Beckham's Golden Balls title would have been replaced by him. Nah...he queue jumped in front of me. It was so funny man, I wish you could have been there. He was crying like a girl when I ran for it! It's cool though...he'll only be pooping pennies until tomorrow."
It was around this time that Alfred pulled a t shirt on and Cam asked his questions about his scars. Cam was suddenly left wondering when Alfreds face suddenly dropped, seeming to be as a result of his questioning. Ah balls - touchy subject maybe? That would explain why Cam had never seen these scars before and why Alfred looked rather worried. He swivelled about in his arm chair waiting for a reply. It was cool whether he wanted to tell him or not, but he was certainly hoping that it would be the former. And luckily for Cam, it was. And it was certainly something he wasn't expecting.
At first he heard '9/11'. Cam looked up at Alfred with shock in his face. "You were in New York when the planes hit?" He definitely could understand why Alfred wouldn't want to talk about that - he was pretty sure that witnessing something like that and gaining scars from it would inbed some emotional turmoil. However he was in for a bigger shock when Alfred further admitted that the scars were from all four crash sites. The North and South Tower he could accept...they had been in pretty close proximity to one another so it was possible that he could have been scarred from being in the wrong place twice. The Pentagon and United 93 though? That had been in Washington DC AND Pensylvania?! How was it even remotely possible when all three sites were hours apart?
The can Cam was holding suddenly didn't feel like a can anymore and he looked down to see that the aluminium had been replaced by a thin can of yellowish metal. Gold. He had turned something to gold without realising - something that he hadn't done by mistake for ages. "Oh mannnn my Monster!" He sighed, setting the can on a table beside his chair before standing up and retrieving another from the fridge. He turned back to Alfred cracking it open and being Cam he blinked in confusion before a grin spread across his features. "Have you been smoking our supply without me?" He waited but then he still felt uneasy. Alfred HAD looked pretty damn serious as he had answered. "But seriously...how is that possible dude?" He waited, listening intently. Perhaps it was time they lay of the video games for a while! Tags: Alfred/Mandee Listening to: -- Thoughts: Tired >.< Word count: 761

HEARTS OF FIRE, STREETS OF STONE MODERN WARRIORS SADDLE IRON HORSES OF CHROME
----------------------------------Alfred burst into laughter at Cameron's comment about pooping pennies. "Priceless! Now that I would PAY money to see on youtube!"
He held out his hand to give Cameron a high five, trying to remember this time to hold back on his strength. Last thing he needed was for Cameron to go flying where that punching bag had gone. Though that would be kind of funny, and Alfred started to chuckle a little at the thought. Alfred couldn't help but smile, in an 'I know something you don't know' way when Cameron asked if he'd been in New York on 9/11. "Nope, I was in Boston." It was actually kind of fun playing like this. He watched as it struck Cameron that it was impossible for him to have been at all four crash sites on 9/11, and watched as Cameron, in his surprise, turned his can of Monster into gold. "At least you're showing off your power. I came here to see a bunch of superheroes and I haven't seen much of ANYTHING!" Alfred actually looked somewhat depressed at this. Well, the guy had a thing for superheroes, what could he say? If he was going to be at a school that seemed like it came right out of the X-Men, he wanted to see some X-Men, dammit! ...or whatever they called themselves at this school. If they even had a name. But Cameron wanted answers, just as Alfred expected. Alfred pointed to two scars near his ribs, on the right side of his chest. "That's from the twin towers." His finger drifted down to another scar near his navel. "The Pentagon." He proceeded to point up to his neck. "Flight 93." Then, for the coup de tat, he removed his shoe and sock on his right foot. "Pearl Harbor." There was another scar spanning his entire midsection, this one far worse than any of the other scars combined, but interestingly enough, he didn't comment on that one... Alfred looked back up at Cameron with a large grin on his face. Oh, he hoped Cameron wouldn't refuse his offer. It would be so great to rub it in Russia's face that he'd managed to snag up someone before he did... That had to be what Russia was here for, right? He didn't just go around saying 'become one with Russia' for no reason, after all... "How'd you like working for an army of superheroes? It'll be like the Avengers, only ten times more awesome!" Never mind that there wasn't much of an army so far, but...he was getting there! Cam returned the high five that Alfred was offering, noting that as their hands made contact he felt himself rock on the balls of his feet at the impact. He staggered ever so slightly eyeing Alfred with a look that quite plainly said 'damn dude!' before laughing too. "I wouldn't care if I was considered gay but I would have totally followed him into the toilets to film him having a poop!"
Conversation turned pretty serious after this point, enough that Cam actually had a pretty serious look on his face. That was an incredibly rare sight to see after all. It took a few moments to gather what Alfred was saying. He simply answered Cam's question but all that really did was give Cam about a million more questions to ask. If he had been in Boston, then how on earth was it possible for him to receive scars from that terrible day? Why was he talking like he had been there when he so clearly had not? It was a wonder why it was only his can of Monster that turned to gold as his mind went into spasm at the weird information he had just received. Showing of his powers by accident was something that he hadn't done for a while but hey, at least it was only the can.
He raised his brow a little. "Which reminds me. What is your power? I don't think I've ever seen you use yours either. I'm guessing it has to do with those scars? Although I can't figure out quite how they go together." He pondered this for a second before remembering the punch bag making a pretty big mess in the bathroom and snapped his fingers at Alfred. "Your here because of strength right?!" He looked quite excited at this thought. Ohhh the fun they could have! He and Erika already had a lot of fun with her invisibility...it was sure as hell handy to nick stuff from the kitchen when they were hungry and to scare the crap out of people.
Anyway, they were back to talking about how Alfred had gotten the scars in the first place. He watched as Alfred pointed each of them out in turn, Cameron counting them off in his head. North Tower, South Tower, Pentagon, Pensylvania...Okay this was extremely weird but he could handle it right? His eyebrows raised once more though, as Alfred suddenly removed his shoe and sock and pointed to another scar and told him that it was Pearl Harbour. Okay - things had taken an even stranger route. There was absolutely no way that he could have gotten a scar from Pearl Harbour! Cam was beyond shocked as he looked at his friend...shocked enough that the floor around his feet suddenly turned to gold. He looked down and sighed. "Goddamn it!" He looked back at him and at the scar that spanned his midsection, suddenly realising that this was the biggest and most vicious looking. So why hadn't Alfred pointed this one out? "And that scar there? Where's that from?" He looked his friend up and down trying to figure him out. Here Cam always though that New Age was a college for people with special abilities. Now it seemed that there was a whole new type of pupil attending the college and Cam honestly wasn't sure if the boy standing across from him was even human. He thought of this, his face paling slightly. "What are you dude? An alien?" As far as Cam was concerned, Alfred could be blue and sprout fur randomly and they would still be friends. He just wanted answers.
The tension in the air was broken at Alfred's next words. Cam's ears pricked up slightly at this. He could not deny that he was a bit of a Marvel fan...he even had a few Marvel character caps and some headphones. He suddenly grinned at this. "AVENGERS ASSEMBLEEEE!" He stuck his fist out in front of him in Superman stylee before running in a small circle around Alfred and stopping. "That could be fun! But why are you making a kick ass team of superheroes anyway?" Surely there had to be a reason behind this which Cam would preferably want to know before he actually gave a yes. Unless Alfred just fancied making a random team of kick ass superheroes...that would be cool too. They could help little old ladies cross the road and save cats from trees and everything! HEARTS OF FIRE, STREETS OF STONE MODERN WARRIORS SADDLE IRON HORSES OF CHROME
----------------------------------As Alfred watched Cameron rock backward slightly at their high five, he couldn't help but frown just a tad. Maybe he needed to hold back a bit more? Sometimes it was damn frustrating having to treat the world as if you could break it at any moment. He lost count of the number of things he'd broken by mistake as a child, and it was even worse when he was at the age that he didn't quite understand what he was. It wasn't until Arthur took him in that everything came together.
Still, he laughed at the statement about filming the guy pooping pennies. That would be an absolute riot to watch. Or...well, at least listen to. He wasn't so sure that he wanted to watch that in all of it's glory.
Alfred had a serious side too, of course. He didn't show it as often as he should, but it was there. It was just so much easier for Alfred to act like a goofball and concentrate on enjoying life to the best of his ability than to concentrate on more serious matters all the time. There was a time and a place for everything, and seriously, if he was away from Washington and it wasn't being thrust in his face, he wanted to spend as little time thinking about the problems plaguing the world as he possibly could. Both for his enjoyment and for his sanity, really.
That familiar little smile was back when Cameron proposed the idea that Alfred was at the school because of his strength. That was the cover story, but Alfred wasn't going with that one. He was already past the stage where he could pass that one off, what with showing off his scars. "Did you know that every single world government knows about this school?"
He paused, in an attempt to allow enough time for that to sink in. "I'm not the only one here who really shouldn't be...though I don't see what harm it causes. I'm just keeping an eye on things. You know, plenty of armies would love having super soldiers, and this school's the perfect breeding ground for them." He couldn't deny that he'd been fascinated with the idea since the introduction of Captain America during World War II. He was in this camp too. However, he was also keeping an eye out to see if any other nations were actively trying to do something about it. If that was the case, then his duties would flip from reconnaissance to active recruit mode in an instant. This was only a precaution. Alfred watched as Cam turned the ground surrounding him to gold, a grin coming across his face. "DAMN that's cool." Alfred blurted out, clearly impressed. It was an odd ability, but one that Alfred could see coming in handy both in and off the battlefield. The smile abruptly faded as Cameron called attention to the large scar spanning his middle. Alfred's smiling visage might have dropped a little when the first scars were pointed out, but it was nothing compared to the expression on his face now. Now he did not just look serious, but almost perturbed. Though the scars were covered by his shirt, he could not help but glance downward at his stomach, seemingly unable to even meet Cameron in the eyes on this. When he did reply, it was muttered so softly that Cameron would likely only barely be able to make out what was being said. "The Civil War..." His voice sounded distant, as if he were recalling some old, unwanted memory he'd banished away years before. Fortunately, the subject changed, and he actually managed a few laughs as Cameron asked if he was an alien. "Nope, definitely from planet Earth." Alfred felt tempted to bring up the fact that he knew an alien quite well, but decided against it. Truman had wanted him to stick with that stupid weather balloon story with the general public, and as much as it annoyed him, it was probably best to stay quiet about that for now. Besides, wasn't Alfred about to give him enough of a shock as it was? Why add aliens to it? Alfred grinned mischievously at all of Cameron's questions. He gestured to the edge of Cameron's bed. "Take a seat, dude, because this just MAY blow your mind." He waited for Cameron to do so before he continued. "It's not just humans and mutants in the world. Mutants are basically humans with a cool power. Both humans and mutants live a pretty short time. My kind, on the other hand? We can live for centuries, sometimes more! I'm actually pretty young. My birth certificate says I'll be 236 next month, but I'm actually about a century and a half older than that. Still, I know plenty of others that are over a thousand years old..." The thought of actually being that old still seemed crazy to Alfred. A few hundred years he could take, but a thousand years seemed so far away still! Realizing that he had yet to actually answer Cameron's question in his ramble, he finally got back down to business. "I'm a nation." And if Cam freaked out too much and went around telling the school? Alfred would just fall by the standby that Cam must have smoked too much weed. There was always a way out of these things, but he was kinda hoping it wouldn't come to that. Cameron was thoroughly expecting Alfred to at least give him an answer on his remarkable strength. And so it confused him even more when the boy opposite him answered his question with another question. Cam sat for a few seconds staring across at Alfred with a rather dazed look on his face. He suddenly started, and shook his head as though he had come around from a daydream. That was interesting. Very interesting. Cam was a huge history buff - he excelled in it at high school and he was excelling in it at the college. He realised from his historical education alone that when something caught the attention of the worlds governments then it was something a whole lot bigger than what it made it out to be. He understood the Canadian government taking an interested - this was on their soil after all. But other goverments such as France, the United Kingdom, the US...even somewhere random like Azerbaijan? Now that was worth looking into. "That's pretty far out...haven't they got their own little mutant schools to look out for?" That was pretty much how Cam thought it went. Each country produced gifted citizens who attended a secret school or college to harnass their powers. Thats what Cam had thought New Age was about...up until now of course. It seemed there was more to it than met the eye. He looked up still ever so confused as Alfred carried on, his eyes growing wider by the second. "So what your saying is...they only opened this college because they want to produce super armies? And use us as warfare against the other countries? In a mass attack? Damn this is just like Call Of Duty!"
Cam's head was internally spinning at the information that he had just received and he couldn't help it when his thoughts suddenly strayed to Erika. What would she think when she, herself found out what the college was being used for? He imagined she wouldn't be best pleased but then again it was Erika...she surprised him at times by doing the total opposite of what he thought she would. He jumped upon hearing Alfred's shout and looked down at the ground surrounding him. Oops. Now they were seriously going to have to fork out some money to get their dorm repaired when they moved out eventually. He couldn't help the grin that spread across his face though...he had certainly been kind of lucky in the hand dealt to him and ending up with such a special kind of power. At least him and his family and friends would never go hungry again.
The grin faded as the moment passed, replaced by a very confused look again. He thought he understood, but there was still more to come and Cam had a feeling that this conversation was far from over. "Does this make you a general? Do I have to salute you everytime you walk into a room now or something?" A grin again spread across his face at his joke. Cam salute Alfred even if he was superior to him? Hahaha no way. More like roll a joint for him.
The conversation moved to Alfed's scars on his bodies, something that Cam desperately wanted to get to the bottom off but he kind of already knew that it would be a very difficult thing to get his head around. His face was still a picture of shock at the scars being a culmination of the events of 9/11 but it was nothing compared to the the face Alfred pulled when Cam asked about the long scar down his midsection. He knew he had crossed some sort of line although he didn't know what line it was. Did the topic upset him? Make him angry? Embarrass him? He managed to catch the three words out of Alfred's mouth even if they were almost whispered and he understood straightaway that perhaps now wasn't the right time to ask him about it, so he dropped it.
Cam also laughed at Alfred's answer to his question about him being an alien. "Oh man that would have been pretty cool. You could have taken me on holidays to your home planet and taught me the ways of the aliens and then we could have gone out and freaked people out by peeing out of our fingers and stuff!" He truly was disappointed but at least he wouldn't have to worry about his friend's secret becoming exposed and landing him in a lab to be tested on.
Cam honestly didn't think anything could be more crazier than Alfred being from another planet...until now that is.
He raised his eyebrow as Alfred told him to grab a seat. He sat down slowly wondering what on earth it could possibly be that meant he needed a surface underneath him...and have his mind blown. Cam had his mind blown all of the time when he was high from simple things...he was sober as hell at the moment so this was BIG. Maybe he ought to roll a joint as Alfred told him so that he had something to smoke on if it really did effect him. With this idea, Cam pulled out his equipment to make his joint and started sorting it out whilst looking up at Alfred. Impressive really that he didn't drop any tobacco or weed.
As he rolled, he nodded at the same time to what Alfred was saying. Okay he knew that about humans and mutants. So far so good. And then Alfred went onto something much MUCH bigger. Cam raised his eyebrows at the words 'my kind' and as he carried on speaking, Cam's eyebrows seemed to disappear right off of his face into his hairline. He was 235, turning 236 next month? What the hell?! He didn't really have any idea how to react to that one and he had completely forgotton about their whole conversation moments ago about world governments and super armies. He was about to ask if Alfred had two powers...strength and immortality. But why would he refer to himself as a whole other species to humans and mutants?
"I'm a nation."
Cam dropped his now rolled spliff in surprise and stared at Alfred. A nation? A nation?! If one were to walk in the dorm now it would probably be a pretty comical scene. Alfred standing looking ever so serious for once and Cam sittting by his fingers still in a V shape with his mouth and eyes wide open. Perhaps it was quite rude to stare at his friend like this, but Cam didn't really realise that he was staring anyway as his mind processed to words just spoken to him.
A minute or so passed in this fashion before Cam slowly shook his head to snap himself back to reality allowing him to speak again. "Dude...how do you mean 'a nation'? Like what...your made of soil and rock or something? Or a nation in a metaphorical sense? Are you like the nations ultimate cheerleader guy thing?" Cam suddenly had an image in his head of Alfred waving pom poms about at a world senate and began to chuckle, before picking his joint up slowly and lighting it. He stared at Alfred a bit longer. "I am tripping! I really can't tell ih I'm already high and I'm just imagining this...or if I've smoked too much weed and it's made me crazy?" Alfred definitely seemed to have some more explaning to do, especially now that Cam genuinely thought he was either high or mental. HEARTS OF FIRE, STREETS OF STONE MODERN WARRIORS SADDLE IRON HORSES OF CHROME
----------------------------------At Cameron's first question, Alfred shook his head. "Nope...only this one. It's why everyone's so interested. Well...I don't know about the others, but I know it's why I'm interested."
It was fascinating, a school like this. Like something out of a comic book. As one of the world's biggest superhero fanatics (he seriously had a comic book collection that would put most ardent collectors to shame...aided by the fact that he'd been around since comic books existed, of course), this was like a dream come true! The next guess wasn't so on the ball, but then again, Alfred hadn't given him much to work with. Alfred still chuckled a little and shook his head. "No, none of the world's governments had a hand in the opening of the school. That's why everyone's here...to see what's going on, and if there's anything worth getting involved in here." And so far Alfred still wasn't sure what to do about Russia... Alfred laughed at Cameron's next words. "I certainly wouldn't mind, but no, you don't have to." He wasn't a general anyway, and his answer was more of a non-answer. It was true that he didn't exactly mind being saluted, though. He was a country, though at this point in the conversation Cameron didn't know it yet. The comment about aliens had Alfred laughing even harder. If only Tony, the alien friend he'd made as Roswell, were there to hear this! He had a feeling Tony would get as much of a kick out of it as he was. "Aliens don't pee out of their fingers!" He'd been told by numerous bosses over the past several decades not to mention Tony...but that didn't mean that he couldn't allude to Tony, now did it? It wasn't like he was revealing how he knew aliens didn't pee out of their fingers. He was just saying a fact. ...and to be fair, that might not even be a fact. Tony's species of alien didn't pee out of their fingers, but that didn't necessarily mean that there weren't other aliens out there who did. Huh. He'd have to shoot Tony a text about that one. Just as Alfred expected, Cameron was absolutely stunned at Alfred's realization. Alfred wasn't exactly surprised, nor was this something 100% new to him...it was how damn near every human he'd ever told reacted to the revelation. Mind, he didn't tell too many humans. Bosses, occasionally someone very high in the government here or there, a very occasional citizen...no, Alfred wasn't new at the revelation game, but that didn't make the reactions any less amusing when he watched them. Especially when Cameron's hands were still in the shape of a V the whole time. Cameron's questions were pretty typical, honestly. The 'are you made of soil and rock' one was a new one, but most of the others were pretty par for the course. Though Cameron's mind was already blown - He didn't really need to know that he was asking the same sorts of questions men in the history books he'd read asked before him. "I am the United States of America. My glasses are Texas, and that piece of hair sticking up on my head that I can't get to sit down no matter how much gel I put on it is Nantucket. Seriously, I've tried almost every hair product invented and that thing won't stay down." Alfred patted at his head with a frown. "If you want me to tell you exactly how it works, I'm afraid I can't tell ya. We aren't born, we just kinda come into existence. We usually start as kids, though." Though Alfred was physically a kid long before Cameron even came into existence. "I don't know who all is here as of yet...so far I've only run into Russia, and that didn't exactly go well. Old habits die hard." Alfred shrugged, not so sure how much he wanted to talk about that creep Russia in front of Cam, all the while adjusting his glasses a bit on his face. Then he grinned as Cameron asked if he were going crazy. "Nope, but I can see why you'd think that. This isn't something you here every day." Alfred plopped down on his own bed so that he was on more of an even level with Cameron while they were talking. Maybe that would make the other guy feel better? Probably not, though. It was the shock that was likely getting to him more than anything else.
