I'VE BEEN CAUGHT STEALING ONCE WHEN I WAS FIVE I ENJOY STEALING
----------------------------------Exams were coming, and thus Erika was venturing into an area that she did not spend all that much time in normally - The library. She didn't put absurd amounts of efforts into her grades - Only what she needed to keep her grade point average at an acceptable area to remain on the sports team, and that was it.
To do one of her projects for class, however, Erika needed access to an encyclopedia. For once, her father had put his foot down, saying that they had no need to purchase an encyclopedia for a single project, especially when she had the world wide web at her fingertips. Her English teacher, being a strickler, specified that it had to be a written encyclopedia, and thus Erika was forced to trek to the library. As she ventured there, she recalled all too well a very important tidbit that she'd ignored prior to now - She had an outstanding fine on a book she'd lost earlier in the year. Now, the simple solution would be to pay the fine. The unfortunate part? Erika did not have the money on her, and by the time the fine was paid off, the library would be closed, and Erika would lose valuable time on her project. Which would not be a worry save for the project being due tomorrow...
It was about this point where another idea began to formulate itself in the back of Erika's mind. An unsavory idea, but once it presented itself, it was one that Erika could not help but keep feeding as she went over it in her head. She could take the encyclopedia she needed. It wouldn't even be as bad as her normal escapades. She wasn't even technically stealing. She was simply utilizing the library for what it was used for in the first place - She was borrowing a book! She was simply bypassing all of the annoying red tape.
With that, Erika ventured over to that corner of the library. She grabbed the book that she was looking for and took a seat at one of the tables, a plan already in motion. She spread a couple of other books in front of her, to make it look as though she was working on homework. She stayed there for several minutes to keep up the illusion. Then she walked past a bookshelf, using her power to turn both herself and the items she was carrying invisible. She'd make it out the door easily now.
She was almost home free, a smile coming across her face when the power went out in the library as a result of the storm outside. As a result of the newfound blackness that surrounded her, she didn't see that her path was about to collide with that of a slightly younger girl, and her books went flying. Argh! Stupid power! She went to bend down and pick up her books quickly, digging through her purse to try to find her cell phone and create a bit of light when she heard someone addressing her. Great, just great. Rule number one of successful stealing was not drawing too much attention to yourself. Nevertheless, she'd look more suspicious if she didn't respond, and so one came. "Don't worry about it! It's not like either of us can see a thing..."
Though her eyes were starting to adjust, it was still quite dark. Then again, if she could get out while it was still like this... I SEE YOU OVER THERE, SO HYPNOTICthinking 'bout what i'd do to that bodyI'D GET YOU LIKE OOH BABY BABY, OOH BABY BABY___________________________________________ Today nothing was going to go wrong for her or for her powers because she wasn't going to use it and needed to focus not to when she whispered or read out loud from a book. She was so much into this plan that she didn't realize she was walking into the library and opening up a book from the children session. She kept repeating in her head don't use powers, just read in your head for today. She was concentrating all her might on this one lenses aim and wouldn't let anything get into her way of a perfect day without her ability going off, so she shouldn't had been surprise or angry with herself for losing it - but she did.
It was all because a girl went and gone invisible causing her to be startle and reading out loud a character from Rick Riordan's the Red Pyramid, so when said character came into being by the same calling card of her power invoked: A sudden wind and a bit of light flashing. Soon Sadie Kane was walking among them chewing her signature gum and having striped red with blue streaks in her hair and pale skinned teenager. She looked around her confused and asked in her British accent who her summoner was, but soon went off into the hallway.
Kat heard a colliding of bodies and books falling because snapping out of her thoughts and shock daze, following after the character with book in her hand. It was a good thing that the stated librarian was use to her ability and saw Sadie Kane walking out or she would had stop Kat with the book in hand; plus no twelve year old was going to be walking around this place, she sighed miserably and noticed Sadie and the girl she saw going invisible now quite able to be look upon.
"Sadie, wait up," Kat called. "Sorry, I have to send you back." Like always there was an argument while she tried to calm down the younger girl and get her to comply. "Luckily this is before Set came," she said softly under her breath.

I'VE BEEN CAUGHT STEALING ONCE WHEN I WAS FIVE I ENJOY STEALING
----------------------------------While Erika's ability came in handy, it also didn't have many complications, thankfully. The worst that might happen was here going invisible unexpectedly if she felt embarrassed or upset about something. Outside of the halls of the New World Academy, this wasn't such a good thing because it might expose her ability, and while other stories like hers were popping up around the world, she didn't exactly want her ability to be public knowledge.
Inside the Academy, however? Everyone had an ability. She didn't have to worry about hiding it. Unfortunately? This time she'd been caught in the midst of trying to smuggle a book out of the library.
On the other hand, this might have been a blessing in disguise. Though she might have been startled back into visibility by the sudden collision, it also appeared that there was a huge distraction going on. Someone else's ability going haywire? Erika wasn't sure, but she did want to find out.
She noticed that the other girl had her eyes on her, but was muttering about something else entirely. A young girl who looked too young to be attending New World Academy was walking out the door to the library, and this other girl was calling after her. Sadie. Why did that name sound familiar? Hell, why did that girl look familiar? Erika watched with a contemplative frown. "What's going on?"
She found herself asking. She couldn't very well escape right now anyway...the librarian was still looking in their direction, what with the commotion. So she might as well at the very least get a few answers as to what was going on. I SEE YOU OVER THERE, SO HYPNOTICthinking 'bout what i'd do to that bodyI'D GET YOU LIKE OOH BABY BABY, OOH BABY BABY___________________________________________ Needless to say it was a very awkward situation as she tried to keep an eye on Sadie and trying to think of a way to explain what was necessities about what was transpiring to the young woman before her, so Kat just had to figure out while not turning the teenage girl off by telling her she wasn't suppose to be here and to allow her to get into the book. There was always confusion and argument or fighting when she needed to get a character back inside. The only character so far (since she summons him a lot) who doesn't give problems for her was Remus Lupin. Yes, she had a crush on him, but he was a good reliable person to ask advise from. No problem to give over that.
The whole bringing characters and destruction that followed would make one think she was ban from the library. She had been banned. The librarian didn't want trouble, but it didn't work in her case. It seem not being about to be crowded by books at times gave her insomnia the type that kept going until you dead and being uncontrollable with her powers. They went off at random and by just touching a book because of her whole insomnia and all. Added to that the fact she kept walking around the library area which drove the librarians crazy, yeah, she had been unban and did her hardest not to speak outloud.
Back to the dilemma at hand: Getting Sadie Kane into her book again and trying to not let the young lady beside lost her mind. So, she said, "Hello. Meet Sadie Kane and she's going to return home. Don't you want to see Carter and your dad again? I would. Family is family," and turned to gathered the teenager's upper arm. "Oh! I'm Kat," she greeted the other student at this academy.

It was the first song that involve something and I figure it will just be a metaphor for how she is with books, so body = book/character and hypnotic will be how both characters and people feel about her power. Good, right? Lyrics: SCREAM by Usher ___________________________________________

I'VE BEEN CAUGHT STEALING ONCE WHEN I WAS FIVE I ENJOY STEALING
----------------------------------This was definitely strange. She could only assume that the younger girl stalking out of the library being present in the library in the first place had something to do with the older girl following her's ability. "Is that your little sister?"
Erika found herself asking. Well, she did seem to know the other girl. Maybe she could teleport others to her location? That would be a useful power to have! The other girl seemed like she had a lot on her plate, and even though Erika had previously been embroiled in her own mission, she found herself wanting to help this other girl. Erika really did like helping people at heart...she just had a rather strong vice that she found impossible to control at times. Especially when she needed that damn encyclopedia. Erika heard the other girl speaking and blinked. She was being introduced to this other girl, the girl that didn't seem to belong. What else could Erika do but greet the other girl herself? She decided to just introduce herself to both of the girls and get it over with. "Erika. Nice to meet you both." She stated with a smile, curious as to what was going on but not certain if she should ask. She had a feeling that she'd find out soon enough anyway, so she just decided to let the conversation flow as it was coming along. I SEE YOU OVER THERE, SO HYPNOTICthinking 'bout what i'd do to that bodyI'D GET YOU LIKE OOH BABY BABY, OOH BABY BABY___________________________________________ That was a good answer to who the teen girl was, but she needed to laugh at that guess since she was the youngest and she only had an older brother, Jeremy. She shook her head and shrugged. "I'm sorry. It was the question since I'm the only girl and have an older brother, and such like that," she explained to her confused peer. "Only Sadie here is from Britian and I'm most definately American. I'm sorry for laughing, but it's the situation and the question," she apologized and smiled to her classmate. She kept a hand on the younger girl and was flipping through a book. "One sec, please." She told Erika.
Kat allowed Sadie to escape her hold and went to stand beside the other student before grabbing her hand. She gave her a smile to reassure her and started to read to send Sadie back into her world. Soon the wind blew around them and lights flicked, and Sadie Kane was back in the book. She smiled at Erika.
"Pleasure to meet you," she stated and let go of her. "Sorry for that. I was anchoring you just incase you went in too," she closed the book, "The Red Pyramid" and gave it to a librarian waiting for it and Kat inclined her head to the much older woman before turning to look at Erika. "My power is book channeling," she ventured to ask, "and you can turn invisible, right?" ___________________________________________ Tags: Erika Martens Words: 248 Notes: Short! I'VE BEEN CAUGHT STEALING ONCE WHEN I WAS FIVE I ENJOY STEALING
----------------------------------Well, the other girl's response only brought on more questions. If this girl wasn't her little sister than who was she, and what was she doing wandering around the library at New World Academy? She couldn't possibly be college aged.
Erika didn't yet have the information she wanted, but went along with it nonetheless. She was sure that she would find out soon enough...or at least she hoped that she would. She'd almost forgotten the encyclopedia that she needed in the midst of everything else that was happening The freshman nodded when the other girl informed her to wait just a moment, figuring that she would get her answers soon enough, whether through putting it together herself or having it explained to her by Kat. And she did, of course, as she watched what unfolded next.
Erika watched with wide eyes as a small wind started to blow and the lights flickered. The brunette was able to make a connection to the book that Kat was holding and the girl, but still didn't have all of the answers until Kat supplied them for her. Then it all became clear. The missing piece clicked, and Erika's confused expression turned into a large grin.
"So that's where she came from! That makes sense now!"
Erika was so happy that she finally had the answer to this quandary that she almost missed that Kat asked her a question in return. Regaining her composure, Erika nodded. "Yep, invisibility. Surprised you noticed, what with everything else that was happening." She stated with a small, friendly smile. As long as Kat didn't know exactly why she was running through the library invisible... I SEE YOU OVER THERE, SO HYPNOTICthinking 'bout what i'd do to that bodyI'D GET YOU LIKE OOH BABY BABY, OOH BABY BABY___________________________________________ Watching the younger girl for a few moments, the brunette pondered her next statements and questions carefully. She didn't want to seem too pushy as Erika was one of the first persons who she met this year at New World Academy, so she didn't want to lost a potiental friend.
"Yes, she did and I noticed you turning invisible beforehand," Kat answered and frowned at the thought that she had just been witnessing a misjudgement, but it sounded like Erika was inside before. "At least... I wasn't just daydreaming about that," she giggled afterwards. "You were in the main lobby before?" she gestured to the inner room that was the library lobby and shrugged nonchalantly.
She looked around for a moment before motioning to Erika to follow her to a study hall nearby the library. It had computers lined up on two sides of it and a ceiling to floor bookshelf that held textbooks that you can rent out by just signing your name, dormitory room number, and the book title. She sat down and flap her bags down on one of the square tables in the middle of the room.
"You need a textbook or something?" Kat asked her. "Because there are plenty here." She chuckled and took out two DS systems. "Or want to do a little battle?" She took out several games and some were doubled to do two player arenas or team matches or one-onone with somebody else. She had been looking for somebody to play with for a while now, but she had been busy with studying and incidents like Sadie Kane coming out of a book.

I'VE BEEN CAUGHT STEALING ONCE WHEN I WAS FIVE I ENJOY STEALING
----------------------------------When Kat admitted that she'd seen Erika turn invisible, Erika couldn't help but frown. If she'd observed Erika going invisible, who knew what else she might have seen? Then again, Kat wasn't accusing her of stealing, so it was very possible that Erika was looking too far into things. It didn't help that she was doing something wrong and she knew it...
Erika nodded at the other girl's question. "Yep. I was doing some research for class."
Which was the truth. She just also needed to take a book out of the library that she couldn't possibly get out of there unless she smuggled it out. Hence why she'd turned invisible and taken the books with her, until she was interrupted. She followed Kat over to the book rental area, hoping that she wasn't blushing or going pale, or doing anything that might betray the guilty feeling she was experiencing right now. Yes, she wanted to rent out a textbook, but she couldn't until that fine was paid, and she didn't have money. It was much easier just taking the book out and returning it the next day! There wasn't even anything wrong with that, was there? It wasn't even as bad as her usual stealing, was it? It bothered Erika when Kat asked her if she needed a textbook. Did Kat know? Was that why she was asking? Or was it, more likely than not, an innocent question that Erika was overreacting to? Regardless of Kat's motives, Erika relaxed considerably when Kat mentioned that she had a couple of games to play. Now that was something Erika would be up for. She still needed to leave the library with that encyclopedia, but trying to run out straight away would only arouse more suspicion, if there was any in the first place. Nah, best to stick around and wait it out. Erika grinned and took a DS. "What should we play?" She asked with a smile. This was turning out better than she thought it would.
