Welcome to the New World Academy! It was created under the guise of an academy for gifted students. The vast majority of the public remained unaware of just how gifted these students actually were.
Most of these students had at the very least heard of the X-Men. The comics, the movies, the TV series...they just never imagined as kids that they'd be living it out in real life! Yes, evolution has taken it's foothold in the 21st century, and the New World Academy is where college-aged young adult mutants from all over the world not only learn the sorts of skill sets needed for their majors, but also how to control their powers away from the prying eyes of the public.
Sounds simple, right? But alas, it's never that simple.
The Canadian government received word of what the school was about. From there, it was only a matter of time before the rest of the world's governments knew exactly what the New World Academy on Prince Edward Island truly was. The public as a whole still remained generally unaware, but there was a gaping hole in the security at the academy, and the governments of the world intended to exploit it. How, exactly?
Enter the Hetalians.
Human in appearance, but not in actuality, the Hetalians are nigh immortal 'nation spirits' - that is, to say, human representations of every nation in the world. Every nation has one, and a good number of them have decided to send them to the New World Academy. It's a good move on their part, really. Most of the spirits' physical forms appear to be in their late teens to early twenties, give or take a few years. Some were sent simply to gather information, others to actively try to gather armies from the gifted students at this academy. Either way, physically, they blend in just fine. What could possibly go wrong?
Other than, of course, the complications that could arise with a large group of college students with superpowers, along with the representative spirits of many nations across the globe, all gathered in one area.
Will cool and calm heads prevail above the storm, or will World War Three erupt on a small island on Canada's east coast? You decide!
