Regrets collect like old friends Here to relive your darkest moments I can see no way, I can see no way Ildri had agreed to go on a small trip with Warren to show him what she actually looked like. Sure she had described it, but that was certainly never enough, and besides she wanted to jump off a cliff again. She missed the feel of falling that she usually could get when she was away from people. It was definitely something she couldn’t exactly go do all the time because she had school work to do usually. Thus she was taking this time when both she and Warren had a break to go on a trip. Thus she had packed a bunch of things she figured they would probably need. Already she had definitely grabbed a tent along with blankets and sleeping bags, stuff to make some food, and several sets of clothes and towels. Hopefully this would be enough stuff, and besides Warren could be bringing some things as well. Well, at least she figured he would be anyway, but whatever. She met him at the car and packed all their things up before deciding to head out. It was about the middle of the day at this point, but they weren’t in a ton of hurry. The only thing was that they may have to set up the tent while losing daylight, but that wasn’t that big of a deal. She could always give them plenty of light that was for sure.
Anyway though, they drove off and towards a cliff she had mapped out while planning this trip. It was one that didn’t look very heavily traveled, and thus it made that particular one perfect for this trip. The drive was a little long, but it was to be expected when they were driving to a coast in the middle of the day. It really was some of the warmest weather for Canada too, and so maybe Ildri wouldn’t be the only one swimming. She couldn’t care less about the cold, and with how warm she ran it was usually nice to let herself cool off a bit. Once they finally arrived though, they would have to pick out a spot and then set up camp before getting ready to wait a bit until it was dark and there were definitely no boats wandering about. It would take some time to set up camp, but probably not that long, so they might be sitting around for a bit before she would transform.
Deciding upon a spot she parked the car and smiled. ”Well, we’re here.” she said with a grin. It was a spot pretty much halfway between the cliff and the water. That way it was easy enough to go to either. ”Let’s get the tent set up before we lose all the daylight.” she said simply before opening the trunk and pulling it out. The rest of the stuff could stay for now being that it wasn’t needed until the tent was set up. This tent wasn’t hard to set up, and it was big enough that they had plenty of room for probably three people or more. Thus it would be plenty of room for the two of them. Now they had to pick a spot for the tent and a spot for possibly setting up a fire. ”Where do we want to set up the tent?” she asked him curiously while holding onto the bag that it came in. Sure it might be a pain to get back in the bag, but it was easy to carry at least. Hey, maybe while they waited she could even continue to teach him how to play poker. It would certainly pass the time until midnight. They had to get the tent set up first, and possibly get some firewood. Both would be preferable to do before sundown, and being that it was late afternoon; they should probably get a move on it. Well, they could do this in the dark, it would just be a little on the obnoxious side.

And I feel like I'm some kind of Frankenstein Waiting for a shock to bring me back to life
But I don't want to spend my time Waiting for lightning to strike. Warren rolled his window down about half way there. He had everything he needed blankets, sets of clothes he could change in to and of course swimming trunks. He had packs snacks also so that way on the ride there or even when getting up there they had something to munch on with out having to cook it. He also brought sandwiches in his cooler making up a couple different kinds from roast beef, turkey and ham. He didn’t put any condiments on them so they wouldn’t get soggy but had the little packets of mayo and mustard tucked in the cooler also. It was a warmer day and he couldn’t help but welcome it with arms open. He was excited to get away from school and actually have some fun in the sun. He watched the ocean appear and disappear as it hid behind cliffs. He soon rolled his window up as the heat was getting to him and with no water to play in, he didn’t want to get to warm. His mind wandered aimlessly taking in all the sites and the smell of the salty air. He couldn’t remember the last time he went to the ocean it was such a long time ago. A random surprise from his parents for being so good in school. He couldn’t help but laugh as he remembered his first encounter with fish. It nearly scared him half to death as they swam around his feet. That was until he started to stomp around to scare them away.
Finally he felt the car pulling in to a nice cove. The ocean and cliffs were a nice distance apart from each other. She had picked this spot very well in his opinion. Getting out he stretched his legs the car ride having been a long. He smiled as Ildri took initiative and began saying they should get the tent out before night. She was right, the needed to get everything set up since trying to set a tent up at night wasn’t very pleasant. He had only set up a tent once in his life and that was in his back yard. He wondered if he could still figure it out or if Ildri knew what she was doing. He debated on getting more things out from the trunk but they had time to set everything up later. He walked to the edge of the asphalt and stood there looking at the sandy surface before him. He wasn’t quite sure where to set up but somewhere closer to shore would be favorable. That was something he knew for sure, water was not a friend at night and came more up on the beach. Looking around he found the perfect spot he walked a good fifteen feet before planting himself on the spot.
“I think here would be a good spot. I see someone all ready has an out line of a make shift fire pit. It will be easy to build it up again a few rocks and we will be rolling. Plus I brought some fold out chairs just in case we didn’t want to sit on the sand. You never know when something will attack from underneath.”
He smiled and gently took the bag from her as she walked closer. He began taking everything out and setting all the pieces together. That was the best way to start a puzzle. He hoped that as he pulled more out there would be directions. He was pretty good at reading and following unlike most guys who wanted to do everything themselves with out reading directions first. He learned this tactic from his mom, she always told him to read directions first before doing anything. Not to mention when his dad set something up it would always fall apart. He would have to do it again with his mothers supervision to make sure it was getting put together right.

Regrets collect like old friends Here to relive your darkest moments I can see no way, I can see no way When Warren picked out a spot she grinned before walking over and letting him take the bag with the tent. She watched as he opened it before rolling out the tent and separating the stakes and poles that would be needed to set it up and keep it from blowing away. It was always better to be prepared for anything, and being that tents were mesh, she had brought the rain cover as well. Though it was sometimes a pain to put on depending on how it wanted to go this time. She had set it up a few times before, and accidentally had lit the directions on fire, so they didn’t exist anymore. It hadn’t been on purpose, but someone had surprised her and her reaction was usually fire when that happened, and so no more directions. Luckily she knew how to set it up now. ”This will definitely be a good spot, and this way it’s easy to walk up to the cliff or down to the water.” she noted before running a hand through her hair. His statement about chairs made her giggle slightly. ”Have you been mauled by sand crabs then?” she asked curiously. That was the only thing that made sense, either that or ants. She did suppose sand fleas also did exist, but she doubted they would be here.
His question of directions made her shrug. ”Someone snuck up on me when I was reading them once, and so they burst into flames. I know how to set it up though. First connect the poles that are all folded up into one sturdy one. Then we lay them out and put them in an x shape on top. One at a time we then proceed to put them through the holes for them and then the rain cover and stakes. It isn’t too hard. Just can be if the tent isn’t sitting right or whatever.” she said explaining it quickly before starting to unfold the poles and snap the pieces into place. There were two long poles and a shorter pole. The shorter one was for the rain cover, so she set it aside for the moment. ”This short one is for the rain cover, but we have to build the full tent first.” she stated simply before starting to feed the pole through the loops. Each tent went together slightly differently, but this one she knew pretty well. It wasn’t her first time using it, and so she had a good idea on how it went together.
Soon enough the tent was standing and she was pushing the stakes into the ground. Why did you need a hammer when you had super strength? Thus she just pushed them straight in without issue, and they wouldn’t be coming back out with little tugs or anything. The rain cover was next and she directed a bit on how to put it on before doing so and tying it down so it didn’t blow away. ”Now, I suppose we should get some firewood, and then we can swim for a bit. It isn’t as if starting a fire is an issue.” she said with a grin. Clearly it wasn’t an issue when you had someone made of fire, but otherwise it could be depending on how outdoors-oriented the person was. This was certainly going to be an interesting overnight trip, and it would give them a chance to get to know one another better. Where that would lead, who knows, but she was at least giving it a chance, and considering how long she had avoided it that was a step in some sort of direction. Sure it could end horribly, but trying and failing was really better than never trying at all wasn’t it? She thought it was, she had heard that it was anyway. ”After we get firewood we can go swimming maybe. We do have several hours to kill to make sure everyone is off the water.” she noted with a smile at Warren.

And I feel like I'm some kind of Frankenstein Waiting for a shock to bring me back to life
But I don't want to spend my time Waiting for lightning to strike. Circling the spot he picked out his shoes were getting covered in sand. Why in the world had he decided to wear chucks were beyond him. Then again he didn’t have sandals he liked to roam around in. Plus they were mostly going to be bare foot besides climbing when he would really need actual shoes. He wasn’t sure how far they would be going up, or if he would even get to go up with her. He decided he most likely wouldn’t be since she did claim she burst in to flame. As much fun as that would be getting burnt and going to the hospital he would pass. He looked around to see if there were any rocks near by they could circle around the make shift pit. Luckily he spotted a couple. But they would need more; he supposed while he was hunting down wood on the beach he could keep an eye out for rocks as well. He smiled as she agreed this was a good spot to hunker down. Looking back at the project at hand he stared at the tent not really wanting to fight with it. But she distracted him and asked if sand crabs had attacked him.
“No, I haven’t but my mom always said it never hurt to bring chairs. Plus it’s a nice place to put drinks and such in the holders. I was a very clumsy child and if they were laying about you better believe I was the one to kick them over.”
He couldn’t help but laugh at the memory. He had gotten a lot better about spilling things. But it never hurt to keep things off of the sand, or else it could be a really sandy sandwich. He grinned as she began to explain there were no more instructions. But was happily relieved even though she burned them up she still knew how to set the tent up. He listened as she quickly explained they just needed to snap everything together and put it up in an X. He watched as she began to unfold the poles. So he began to help unfold on of the poles, he figured this was the easy part. He helped her feed the pole through catching it on the other side making sure it was going in smoothly. Before he knew it she was pushing the stakes in the ground with her hand. His jaw dropped for a second but then he remembered how she made Alfred go flying. So pushing stakes in the ground was probably super easy for her.
“Yes that sounds like a good plan, by the time we are all done with this week will be ready for a swim. That’s true you pyro, and do we need a certain type of dry wood or will any piece do? And I think we should gather some rocks also. Just to have a place to contain the fire. I think you should be in charge of rocks since you have the muscles!”
He began to walk in no particular direction and looked around for wood. Finally finding a couple nice pieces he kept on searching. Coming back to camp with two arm loads full he placed the wood beside where the fire was going to be. He stretched up looking proud at the wood he brought back. Little beads of sweat were dripping from his curly hair. He wiped them away with his shirt lifting it up to his forehead. He didn’t see Ildri around so he went to the car grabbing their things and tucking them in to the tent. He then began to change in to his swim trunks, since he really wanted to cool off and go swimming. It had been ages and since he was so close to the water and they had hours to kill as Ildri said earlier he was going to take full advantage of the water.Word Count: 658 Tag: Ildri/Cal Notes: Yess! Regrets collect like old friends Here to relive your darkest moments I can see no way, I can see no way Hearing him talk about how it never hurt to bring chairs, and that he was clumsy she laughed slightly. ”I never had the issue of clumsy, but then again I’m also not quite human. I had more trouble speaking than walking.” she noted with a slight smile. Besides, it would be nice to not have to sit either in the tent or on the sand. After all, it was not exactly the most comfortable thing sitting on the sand after all. There were sometimes rocks in it or it would get stuck to you uncomfortably. Sand sucked, but at least it wouldn’t be too bad, and she did suppose she would have to manage with it for a bit. Just something that came with going to the beach, and thus she could always just wash it off when she got home. It wasn’t as if they were staying that long or anything, so it wouldn’t be any sort of problem. Just had to make sure they brushed themselves off before walking into the tent or she would have sand in it for all eternity. Sure she could probably get a new tent, but she wasn’t going to want to do that. Maybe she could vacuum the sand away or something like that. It really didn’t matter though, and thus she wasn’t worried about it.
She suggested they could go swimming, and he seemed to agree with it just fine, and thus they had a sort of plan. He put her in charge of the rocks being that she had super strength, and she giggled. ”Psh, making the lady do all the work.” she teased with a smile. There was also the fact that she had definitely just pushed stakes in which you would normally have to use a hammer for, and the look on his face at that was a little on the amusing side. She didn’t disagree with him though, and so she would get the rocks. It wasn’t as if they had to be big ones, and probably wouldn’t be that hard to find. Firewood probably wouldn’t be either, and the type of wood really didn’t matter either being that she could dry it out and light it without much issue. ”It doesn’t matter what type of wood. I could dry it out even if it was wet.” she noted which would be the only typical issue with wet wood. Thus they went off to do their particular jobs.
She skipped off in another direction and started picking up rocks. The only real issue was holding them all being that weight definitely wasn’t an issue. After a bit she brought them back and set up the fire ring spying that Warren had already dropped off some firewood. The girl had decided to wear her bathing suit on the way up and thus just pulled her shirt over her head and then pulled off the shorts. Seeing as there was a moving shadow in the tent she was assuming that Warren was in there and thus she just dropped her clothes in the car for now. Grabbing them later wouldn’t be hard, and they really could just stay there for the remainder of the trip. She walked back over to the tent. ”I’ll meet you down at the water.” she said with a smile before skipping down to the ocean and walking in. Definitely wasn’t that warm, but it was perfectly comfortable for her. She was about up to her knees in the water and there was a slight bit of steam rising from where she was standing. Her feet kicked about in the water and she crouched down to pick up a piece of coral she spotted in the water. It was quiet out here, and it was kind of nice actually. The school could be very crazy at times, and getting away from it was kind of relaxing.

And I feel like I'm some kind of Frankenstein Waiting for a shock to bring me back to life
But I don't want to spend my time Waiting for lightning to strike. “Your lucky I was the most clumsiest human child in history. Well probably not history but to my parents I was like a bomb waiting to explode every time I had a beverage around. Or at my house everything was carpet but they soon learned wood or tile would be a better option. Then they started to buy me things in pouches for a while. It was definitely a process that’s for sure, my poor parents.”
Shaking his head back and fourth it was just a fun memory he had of his parents. He looked up at the car and wondered if he should get them out now. But he hated the idea of them just sitting where while they weren’t watching. Not like anyone was going to stroll up to this spot. It was still a fear in the back of his mind or what if the sand crabs took off with them. He grinned imagining a colony of sand crabs coming to take the chairs. He then looked at the tent and was glad it was at least still standing. He figured it wasn’t going anywhere though Ildri made sure of that. He wondered how strong she was and could lift. She probably would make him look like a girl if he tried to lift against her. I mean she even beat Alfred in an arm wrestling contest, even if it was by throwing him off his game.
“Of course what can of man do you think I am? Get with the times Ildri the women go out and make money and men get to stay home.”
He joked with her smiling from ear to ear before going on his hunt for wood. He looked around a small bit for rocks that were close so he could tell Ildri she didn’t have to walk that far. Of course he was out of luck and didn’t find any looking at the beach. He turned back to her as she began to say it didn’t matter what type of wood. He wondered if there was a certain type of wood to get if you didn’t have a friend whom could breath fire. He supposed dry would be the best, but were there any other specific types of wood. He stopped himself for a moment was he really thinking about wood? That was the lamest train of thoughts he had ever had with him self. He was just glad Ildri couldn’t read minds too or else she’d think he was insane.
“Yes ma’am, I won’t let you down.”
Finding his way back to the tent his swim trunks were giving him issues, until he realized he was putting to feet in one hole. Mumbling to him self about stupid swim trunks he finally got them on. He heard Ildri come back dropping the rocks on the ground. He then saw her outline talking off her clothes. He wondered if she was going naked but decided that was just a hopeful wish. Then hearing her say she’d him down at the water he hurried up and tied up his shorts. Unzipping the tent he flings himself out. And begins to make his way down to the water. He stands up a bit farther on the beach watching Ildri get in to the water. Steam was rising up from the ocean; he could help but grin at this. He then makes his way down to the water seeing her picking things out of the water, he couldn’t help but notice how peaceful she looked.Word Count: 591 Tag: Ildri/Cal Notes: Oh that little hunt for the link was fun! Regrets collect like old friends Here to relive your darkest moments I can see no way, I can see no way Hearing him say that he was probably the clumsiest child in history she giggled. ”Did they have to wrap you in bubble wrap?” she asked him with a grin. Even when she was a kid she really did think more like an immortal much of the time. There was also the fact that parents weren’t exactly lenient with kids in the slightest. They had to be all proper and such, and there was a certain order to things. It was really nothing like it was today, there were so many more conveniences now that she took advantage of, and quite a few she certainly didn’t. Some things she cared about doing the more difficult way because it was much more satisfying, but most things she didn’t particularly care to do the old fashioned way being that it was a pain in the ass to do. Either way though, she wondered how he had ended up as clumsy as he did, or maybe he was just a destructive kid. They did exist every so often she supposed. She wondered what would have happened if she had been like that. Her parents probably would have thought something was wrong with her, but then again didn’t they already? Clearly she lit people on fire without anything but herself, and could punch someone through the air, though she didn’t really notice that one as much when she was a kid.
His next statement made her raise an eyebrow. ”I’m not sure I’ve been with the times since the year five hundred.” she admitted simply. She did try, but rarely did she ever completely succeed in blending in. Even now she got weird looks for some of her habits or things she said that didn’t quite fit with a normal human. ”You mean to tell me that you’d want to stay home and be a housewife though?” she teased him with a raised eyebrow. That would be amusing to see actually she had to admit. Definitely would be weird though, and besides from what she knew didn’t both go out and work now? Though she was sure there were exceptions to that, whether it be the way Warren described, or how she was used to things going with the women at home and the men going to work. Though to be fair, it wasn’t as if the lady sat around the house doing nothing, she had all sorts of chores to do, it was just she didn’t get paid for it unless it was someone else’s house. Even then it wasn’t like you got much for it, but that wasn’t important at the moment.
He said he wouldn’t let her down and she giggled before going to find rocks. ”You better not.” she teased him. She didn’t have any trouble finding ones, and really either of them could have done either job without trouble. It wasn’t as if she was getting boulders and smashing them to pieces to make the fire pit. They were just finding some normal sized rocks to make a circle with. Once she came back she took off her shirt and shorts before heading down to the water. The phoenix had been planning on going swimming once they set up, and so she just wore her swim suit so she wouldn’t have to change. Once she got to the water she smiled and turned to see Warren running down the beach. The girl put down what she had spotted in the water and turned around to walk towards Warren. She reached over and grabbed his hand before gently pulling him more into the ocean. ”Come on, don’t just stand there, come swim.” she said with a smile as she looked at him and walked backwards. Sure she could probably just pick him up and throw him in the ocean if she wanted, but that was rude and considerably less fun. Just her luck though she managed to trip backwards and possibly pull Warren with her. It wasn’t really that deep, she had been barely over her knees deep, so it wasn’t as if they would really go underwater. It just might end up as an incredibly awkward position.

And I feel like I'm some kind of Frankenstein Waiting for a shock to bring me back to life
But I don't want to spend my time Waiting for lightning to strike. “Well I did live in a bubble for a while.”
Jokes around, he really didn’t live in a bubble but it sure felt that way until they let him go to school. He as pretty surprised he was even allowed to go to school. His mother was dead against it but his father talked her in to it. Saying Warren needed regular social interaction with kids his age. His mother finally agreeing when she ran out of excuses why he shouldn’t. Not to mention after Alfred disappeared she felt bad for her son so she pushed him in to the academic system. Luckily he grew put of his clumsy stage as a child grown in to a fully coordinated teenager. He parents were finally able to put at all the nice breakables once again a few years later. He still kept his distance from them though just incase his clumsiness decided to come back for one more show down. Thankfully he never had breakable things, he left most of them back at home. He wasn’t sure how dorm life was going to be. He was glad he did though a couple times with his last dorm mate things were likely to be all over the dorm at times.
“Really? So how old are you then if you don’t mind me asking. Isn’t it your not supposed to ask a lady about her age or was it just weight? I’m not sure but since we are being friendly I don’t think it matters much. Not really, I don’t think I’d be good with kids. If they started to cry I’d probably panic, but I know a couple of my parent’s friends have reversed rolls. Most of them both go to work though.”
He had met many different people in Washington including men to went to work while the lady stays home. Or even reversed rolls where the man stayed home and the wife went to work. Shoot he even met people who weren’t married but acted like it happily. It was interesting to see different types of families including his own. Warren thought his family was normal and the lifestyle of being in a lab the whole time is what every kid did. That was until he went out with Alfred more he’d come back to his parents with a ton of different questions for them. Before long they couldn’t keep that there family was very different from other families. He was told when he was a bit older that he was adopted… he figured out later that adopted meant taken from an orphanage for testing. That’s how he got his powers; he was a science human lab rat. It bugged him for a while but he realized that he had a loving caring family. He had more than just two parents but a whole lab that cared and loved him as if he were there own. He finally figured that his family was the best and never looked back from that decision. Not that they didn’t get in fights and when he did he had a mob that was against his decisions at times. It’s what made Warren who he is and loved every second of it.
“All right I’m coming! I’m coming.”
He smiled back at her and began to follow, his water hitting his feet it all ready felt refreshing. Closing his eyes he couldn’t help but let out a small-satisfied sigh. As he closed his eyes he felt a tug. Once he opened them he saw Ildri falling backward him along with her. His eyes widened but it wasn’t like they were going down in a big pool of water. Not wanting her to get hurt not that the sand is particularly sharp but there could be small rocks below the sand. So he wrapped his arms around her bracing his arms to hit first. As they did as planned his arms hit the sand first. Thankfully there weren’t any rocks and he felt her body fall on his arms. Finally he stopped most of his weight from crashing on to hers. Not that she would get hurt or couldn’t heal but it was just Warren being a gentlemen. Once they were settled he looked down at her with a small smile playing on his lips. He couldn’t say this was a bad position to be in.

Regrets collect like old friends Here to relive your darkest moments I can see no way, I can see no way Hearing his statement she raised an eyebrow not entirely sure if he was completely joking or not. ”What was your bubble like?” she asked with a smile at him. Nobody could put her in a bubble no matter how hard they would try. She just never really fit right with everyone else. For whatever reason, she wanted to do her own thing despite not really being allowed to all that much. After all, there was a set model to follow back then, and apparently she didn’t want to follow it. The girl had no idea why she felt the need to be rebellious, but there wasn’t much she could do about it. If she wasn’t rebelling then she was a little bit on the miserable side. Eventually she went with how things were, but she didn’t like it, and found herself disappearing from society for long periods of time. That got very lonely though, so she did that less and less, and now she only disappears for a decade at the most. Even that can be hard at times though being that she finds she wants to make friends despite the fact that she knows they will die and she will only get to spend a few years with them if they don’t know her secret.
His next question made her raise an eyebrow. ”I’m pretty sure you’re not supposed to ask either actually. I’m one thousand five hundred and twenty six.” she admitted simply. Many people were sensitive about their age, but then again many people got older. ”I’ll look like this for about five hundred more years and then I’ll start over again.” she shrugged with a slight smile. Each time was a little different, but she did know that how sick she felt when she started over wouldn’t be any different. It was probably one of the worst feelings of her life, and it lasted several days. He started talking about kids and how he would probably suck with them and she pondered it. ”I’m not sure I’d be good with kids either. I have a tendency to light things on fire when I’m annoyed.” she noted simply. That included people, so clearly she couldn’t handle a child real well unless she learned to control her temper better, or if the child was fireproof. Either way, it probably wouldn’t end well though. So she would definitely avoid children certainly. Besides, her actual family wasn’t exactly a model for how to do things, she was far more human than them and they were birds. That made things a bit on the complicated side.
She heard him say he was coming and she smiled, but still pulled him along anyway because he was only getting his feet wet, but then she managed to trip because clearly she was skilled. Anyway though she felt him wrap his arms around her a split second before hitting sand. Seemed though that he let her go and she caught herself as well with a bit of a surprised look on her face. Seeing the smile she raised an eyebrow at him. What he said though made her blush slightly. ”Does that mean you would have agreed if I had asked then?” she said falling into a familiar pattern from when she landed in his lap. It was slightly reversed this time though. ”whoops?” she said with a slight laugh while still blushing. She hadn’t meant to trip, just to pull him out to swim a bit with her. Oh well, this wasn’t that bad actually, and she was surprised to be thinking that actually. Sitting in the sand she flicked some water at him playfully. ”Comfortable?” she asked him simply with a raised eyebrow. She was actually curious to the answer to that question honestly. The girl wondered what he would reply. Sure it was horribly awkward that he was practically on top of her, but she supposed this could happen with someone she didn't like, so this was a bit better.

And I feel like I'm some kind of Frankenstein Waiting for a shock to bring me back to life
But I don't want to spend my time Waiting for lightning to strike. “I’d have to say very white, mind you it wasn’t’ a real bubble. I’m not that much of a weird mutant.”
Warren can’t help but think about what the lab looked like, from his earliest memories of around five. He had a nice white room, with white sheets and a bed just big enough for him to fit. He was given crayons and markers with of course some paper. He always managed to end up drawing on the white walls. At that point they knew he was stable that no one needed to watch him every minute of the day. They would come in and peak at him if he was crying or throwing things around like children do. For the most part Warren learned how to keep himself entertained. Still to this day if he was alone it wouldn’t bother him that much, he’d just find some solo activity to do. He wouldn’t choose to be alone for the rest of his life; he did like his fair share of socializing. Although he was sure if he had never been integrated in normal human life he would be a shut in somewhere afraid of the world. The thought of him being thrown in to a underground holding cell if he told people of his secret probably wouldn’t be that much of a scare to him. He wasn’t sure if someone at one time had told him that or he just assumed being top secret the government could do that for there protection and his.
“Wow, you look like you haven’t aged a day over a hundred.”
Playfully smiles at her and gives her a small nudge. It was a small shock for him he didn’t expect her to be that aged. It did explain her maturity and how she viewed things. When she said she lived a long time she really meant it was a long time. He didn’t see her differently she was still Ildri and wasn’t age just a number? Well to a point, of course if you’re eighteen and dating a twelve year old there was something strange going on. Unless of course both of them were immortal which wasn’t a likely probability. He wondered how many people were actually immortal. He would never know unless there was some way he could tell. Doubting that since he didn’t even know Ildri was until Alfred told him. Would he have ever known if Alfred hadn’t spilled the beans? She seemed quite happy with no one knowing, it couldn’t help but guess that actually being able to talk about it might be a relief.
“Yeah I don’t think kids would be too good around you lighting them on fire. I have heard when there your own it’s different. Do you think they would be immortal like you? Can you even have kids? Sorry if I’m being nosey…”
He didn’t want her to get angry he was asking questions. Or if they were even sensitive questions to ask. He still had a lot to learn about Ildri and didn’t want to blow his chances of her being open with him. She could just get up and fly away right now if she didn’t want to answer him. Or shut him out completely getting annoying that he was curious. That was the kind of person he was, slightly curious about everything he always had been. When his mom first told him how he was created in to a mutant he had so many questions for her. She was ready to answer those questions; she had waited for years for that can of worms to be opened.
Still on top of Ildri he couldn’t help but let out a huge grin. And it only got bigger as she asked if he would agree to have him on top of her. Of course he would for on he was a boy and second she was very beautiful to him. It was a no brainer in his eyes that yes of course he would have said yes. This was better, not asked just happening and playing out the way things were meant to be. Somewhere in to cosmic universe this happened and he liked that the universe was finally playing a hand in his favor.
“Probably, your beautiful even someone who couldn’t see can tell how beautiful you are.”
He noted her cheeks were red and his then began to feel warm also. He saw a piece of hair sticking out in a funny way and brushed it behind her ear. He smiled as she flicked some water at him and he playfully flicked some back. He nodded as she asked if he was comfortable. He wondered if she was or if that was a small hint saying you should get off me now. He took it as that and retreated a bit so he was off of her. Standing up he offered his hand to her to help her up. They were here to swim after all, the ocean waves hitting both gently almost as if they were saying come on in and swim.Word Count: 852 Tag: Ildri/Cal Notes: =D Lyrics::A boy a girl and a graveyard- Jeremy Messersmith

Regrets collect like old friends Here to relive your darkest moments I can see no way, I can see no way Hearing his statement she shrugged a bit. ”There are different degrees of bubble. The final one being that you are literally in a bubble. You could feel like you’re in a bubble certainly. I was forced into a bubble of what I was supposed to be like, but it didn’t really work very well.” she noted with a smile. ”It’s really sometimes a matter of how much of a bubble you’re willing to be put in before going insane.” the girl stated before running a hand through her hair. It was a true enough statement after all. It was very difficult to put someone in a bubble when they refused to go into it. There was also the simple fact that while you had to listen to your parents, sometimes they got a bit on the unreasonable side. It was possible though that they just didn’t want all their things destroyed, and that was usually pretty reasonable. Either way, he didn’t give a whole lot to go on other than the fact that they switched floors and such so that he didn’t destroy the carpeting. That couldn’t have been cheap to replace all the floors. Why didn’t they just let the carpet get ruined and then replace it when he was old enough to not spill things everywhere? Certainly would make more sense, and with kids didn’t you expect things to get spilled or messes to be made?
Hearing his comment about her not having aged a day over a hundred she raised an eyebrow at him. ”Are you saying I look like I’m a hundred years old?” she asked him with a hint of amusement. She knew for a fact that nobody thought she was over the age of twenty until she started talking. The way she spoke did tend to skew the view of her age at times. Especially when she let little details slip that would be odd to see today and fit in a different time. She knew he had been kidding from the small nudge he gave her and so she was thus just tossing it back a bit. Her age was not something she particularly cared about, but usually she pretended to be between eighteen and twenty four because of her appearance. It was only in about that range she could really pass, and so she could only stay places for so long. This involved moving often and sometimes that meant even moving countries rather than just cities. Though it really was a pain at times. If she was capable of staying in one town, but hibernating for decades at a time it would be much better. That would probably never happen though, and she did like seeing all the different places.
His next statement made her shrug slightly ”I’m honestly not even sure whether they would be able to turn human like me. My parents certainly can’t. I’d imagine I could have kids, though I don’t know for sure.” she noted with a simple shrug. She wasn’t even sure if she would want kids. Honestly she didn’t really like them much, but that might be more because she had to deal with a lot of them when she looked like a child. Only children listened when you looked like one, and many times they weren’t all that interesting to talk to. Well, not for someone like Ildri anyway who had a thousand years on them. A child’s intelligence didn’t really compare to a thousand years of experience, and adults didn’t take her for anything more than just some orphan child. It made things a little bit difficult at the time, but she made it past then, and she’d have to do it again eventually.
Warren was on top of her, and it was vaguely awkward. He grinned at her and she blinked at him. Especially being that he smiled more when she asked him a question. Then he called her beautiful and she blushed more. She could see that he was blushing as well and he brushed a piece of hair behind her ear. She smiled a bit when he flicked water at her, but then got up. She was offered a hand up and she took it. Ildri pulled herself to her feet using his help. ”Alright, let’s try this again.” she said with a smile before walking out until she was up to her chest in the water. She was still slightly blushing though. She dunked her head underwater to wet her hair before pushing it back out of her face. ”Well, we finally made it into the ocean.” she stated with a smile.

And I feel like I'm some kind of Frankenstein Waiting for a shock to bring me back to life
But I don't want to spend my time Waiting for lightning to strike. “Your right, I suppose I was in a bubble trapped not really allowed to go out in to the world for a long time. Then again I really didn’t know what I was missing till I actually got out.” Glances at Ildri “You were stuck on a bubble? Some how I can see that being a very difficult task.”
He honesty couldn’t see anyone making Ildri do what she didn’t want to. Yes back in her younger years when the world was very different from today, they had different standards. But you can tell when a child is going to do what they are going to do. He also doubted she was a terrible kid running around setting everything on fire. She seemed more of a leave me to my space and I will leave you to yours. Warren couldn’t help but smile as he realized he did get to be in her space. And was able to get to know her more than friends. He was able to share things with her and bond even if it didn’t turn out the way they planned. Warren was just happy with opportunity to see a side of Ildri he figured most people don’t have the privilege to see. He wondered how many times if at all she let someone get close. It could only imagine it would be hard, as she said before she’ll out live everyone. Including other himself, but remembered what she said about granting immortality. He wasn’t very religious so the process of dying being the natural thing and right way to live didn’t bother him one bit. For goodness sakes he was a mutant, pretty sure normal people would look at any one with powers and call them something rude or mean. On the other hand some would not but most aren’t open to something new and undiscovered.
He grinned as Ildri asked him if she looked a hundred years old. Hearing her amusement he was glad she didn’t take it the wrong way. “Of course not, you look young but speak with wisdom. I quite like it, very Zen the way you speak.”
Nodding his head as if confirming what he said was the truth. Ildri of course didn’t even look close to a hundred. She looked like she could pull off the ages of eighteen thru twenties. Obviously the lower end of the twenties, she looked very young still. Her skin was smooth, her eyes shining brightly but there was an older age speckled in to them. Her red hair as vibrant as ever in the sun glistening and waving with the small ocean breeze. If you were a stranger and glanced at Ildri at passing she’d looking like every other normal girl. Except maybe a little weird with out a cell phone permanently glued to her hand. Yet refreshing because she’d be holding a book, something a lot of people don’t do in this day and age. His mind twisting from this thought to Ildri speaking about kids and how she wasn’t sure she even wanted them.
“Kids are messy and poop everywhere. They are like puppies but then they grow up and get mean. Well some of them do during teenage years. If you never had kids I don’t think you’d be missing a whole lot. Then again I’m only twenty-two, what twenty-two year old wants kids?”
Warren shrugged it wasn’t that he didn’t like kids because he did. But that was just babysitting or watching them for an hour or two. To have a child with you all the time not being able to give it back? Well he wasn’t sure he would ever be up that that responsibility. Then again that’s why people usually wait till they are out of college and life is steady to think about these things with their partner. It was hard to think of a life where you child is everything. Warren was obviously not ready to have children; he still had things he wanted to do. It would be hard any way to have children if Ildri and him self were a thing and wanting them someday. What would they tell there kids they are going to be forever alive? He didn’t want to think about that right now. It was way to early in the game to tell anything at this point. And jumping the gun wouldn’t help matters much.
Helping Ildri up she smiled saying to try going out in to the ocean again. He watched her walk in further and he followed letting the water cool his skin off. He was so refreshing to be in the ocean his time of day. Smiling he looked over at Ildri her cheeks still a bit pink. Then she disappeared underwater for a moment. He then let himself sink underwater and come back up. He slicked his hair back and out of his eyes looking underneath the water for something interesting. But pulled his eyes back up as Ildri began talking.
“Yes we did! Now lets just hope nothing decides to eat us out in the ocean. I don’t think they will, but if they do I’m putting you in charge of scaring them away with your amazing strength and of course fire. Even though the water would put the fire out in a hot second.”Word Count: 670 Tag: Ildri/Cal Notes: Lyrics::A boy a girl and a graveyard- Jeremy Messersmith

Regrets collect like old friends Here to relive your darkest moments I can see no way, I can see no way His statement made her shrug, so he did feel like he was in a bubble, but it was possible she didn’t know the entire story behind it. ”Human parents seem to either not care or care too much most of the time. It’s not often you find one that’s in the middle I suppose. Even when they are in the middle they are typically more towards one side or the other.” she noted with a slight frown. The task of putting her in a bubble was definitely not easy certainly. It hadn’t really succeeded either being that she eventually just left. ”I didn’t really have many options at the time honestly. I had to play good or get thrown out.” she noted simply with a slight frown. Sure she probably could have survived on her own, but it would have been far more difficult without some sort of foundation to go on. Thus she played nice and went with it. That didn’t mean she didn’t have her rebellious moments, but they weren’t enough to get her tossed out. Really they never really cared if she lit people who wanted to pursue her on fire, or actually when she lit anything unimportant on fire. If it didn’t pertain directly to them, or if they couldn’t be blamed for it then they didn’t seem to really care.
Her question seemed to get a grin as an answer, and then he said she spoke very Zen. Well, that was a bit of an odd reply, but she couldn’t really complain too much. ”Usually it just gets me weird looks. I have a tendency to say things that would seem odd for someone who looks my age without realizing they would be odd first.” she said simply with a slight sigh. Really she needed to think about what she was saying before doing so. The fact that she had bright red hair also got her some weird looks, so sometimes she had to lie and say she dyed it instead of the truth. Who would believe her hair was naturally that color without knowing what she was anyway? Thus she just lied, and had really gotten decent at it over the years. Not because she was a bad person, but because it was what she had to do to continue. People did not always take to things they did not understand. She had learned that from several people freaking out when she had told them in the past. Thus she stopped telling people what she was and only stayed around for a couple years. Not like she could stay longer or they would get a little suspicious of her.
His statement made her laugh a bit. Not all kids got mean, but it really depended on the person. ”I’ve been a kid twice now. Did I get mean? Did you get mean for that matter?” she asked not really caring either way but still it was a point. His next statement of what twenty-two year old wanted kids made her shrug. ”Depends on your era. It used to be normal to get married and have kids as a teenager, but then again at the time you were married and not having kids on accident. It wasn’t as if people really lived long then a lot of the time. It did depend on where you were, but a lot of times people didn’t get as old as they do now. Simple things killed easier because there wasn’t a cure at the time.” she noted with a vague shrug. It was certainly true enough, and now people lived quite a bit longer, and people were searching for ways to make life last even longer. Really, she thought people lived long enough, and did they even like being old half the time? With as many problems as it brought you would think they would stop looking.
Warren followed her further off into the ocean so that they were actually considered in and could swim a bit. Then he commented on things eating them in the ocean. If something could take her down then they deserve to eat her. Though, she’d probably be able to blow them up from the inside honestly. ”It doesn’t have to be a flame to hurt.” she pointed out when he said the water would put the fire out. ”If there was oil in the water it could burn for quite some time too actually.” she noted simply. It had certainly happened before after all. She reached over and touched his arm underwater and he would note that it gradually got warmer. Ildri stopped before it got hot enough to burn, and figured it would get the point across. ”I doubt predators really have any reason to be lurking about honestly. It doesn’t even look like there’s anything here for them.” she noted with a smile at him. Usually there was some sort of food source if there were predators, and she didn’t really see anything that would make them go after two people. There was also the fact that she probably counted as a predator if you were going by animal standards.

And I feel like I'm some kind of Frankenstein Waiting for a shock to bring me back to life
But I don't want to spend my time Waiting for lightning to strike. “Well my mom is overly protective but I really don’t blame her at all. My father is a little more lenient always trying to take my side on matters. Just because he can see how much she likes to smother me. Not that she means to be like that on purpose but it’s just her personality. I had slightly a rough start, so she just wants to make sure I’m still ok. Even now she constantly calls seeing if I’m ok at school and if I want to come home at any time I can. I love her for it though I know she cares and she shows it. Even if at times it’s a bit much I know she’s just looking out for me.”
He knew what happened to the other children who got injected with the serum. No one else made it besides him, so to her he was her miracle baby. So he let her smother him even if it was a bit much at times. He knew it came from a special place in her heart. He was her best creation, even if technically he was already alive when she placed the serum in to him. Sometimes he couldn’t help but think if that was all he was. Her creation that she made and loved, but he knew she loved him more than just that. Whenever he would get hurt she would take him in to her arms and cradle him. For goodness sakes she took him in to her home when in all honesty both his parents didn’t have to. They could have left him alone in the lab for as long as they wanted just looking after him there. This is how he knew he was there as much as they were his family. Looking after each other as if they were his very own child. He smiled at this thought; it was one of the things he first realized after they told him about his real up bringing.
“Well I guess it was a different time period. Not like that’s a good excuse for throwing a child out. At least not your old enough to take care of yourself and can do what you want. So at what age do you start completely over?”
He couldn’t help but wonder this because if something did spark between them how long would she be gone for? Would he have to search for her after she turned to ashes? Would she even remember who he was for that matter? Well she did remember her pasts so far but that was different. Would he be wandering the world alone for a period of time? Then when he did find her and she was a child it’s not like they could be together right away. He would have to take care of her till she became the age she was now. All these thoughts were flying away in his head, a distant look playing on his face. They would need to talk about this over time, all the ‘what if’s’ were going to have to be explored.
“You are just wiser than your years right? I mean some people pick up things way beyond there years. I’ve met some pretty smart and interesting kids where my parents work. Then again they have scientists for parents like I do.”
Of course Warren wasn’t on of those way beyond there years intelligent. But he was a bit a head of the curve in school. It was kind of hard to slack off with many different scientists and knowledgeable people around you twenty-four seven. It made school life better for him in academics, which was nice most of the time. Some people saw fit to make fun of his smarts but when he blossomed in athletics also well most of the quieted down. He knew how to run in moderation so he wouldn’t seem to stick out to bad in gym class. Running just fast enough to win a race and it seemed to win him a gold star with mostly everyone.
“Well you can sometimes get mean.” Laughs for a moment. “But no I suppose your right, not all kids get mean, but teenagers so like to rattle cages. I know I did for a while and my parents would just ground me. I learned my lessons quickly because who likes to get grounded?” Nods his head at her next statement “True I guess it was a necessity to have children young. Now a days it’s really not that important to have them at a young age. We do live longer yet it seems we want to start having children younger and younger. Well some people do, I just see it very odd. I want to travel and build myself a foundation before I start to build a life on nothing. I guess its just preference.”
He didn’t have much to think on the subject. It was just his choice to not have children to early. Just like it was other people’s choice to have them early. As he walked in to the ocean the waves came crashing on him. He smiled and took off in to the deepest part he could reach with his feet. He listened as she said it doesn’t have to have a flame to hurt. When she mentioned oil he nodded and agreed with her. It was true water could catch on fire. He then felt her hand on his arm, it began to get warmer. But before he could be burned she stopped. Her point becoming very clear to him that fire can work against water very easily.
“Sometimes they don’t need a reason they just attack. But if you watch shark week there is always a reason a sea animal attacks a human. Usually it being the humans fault and not so much the animals.”
Warren then went back underwater to explore. He opened his eyes slightly but the salt water burned his eyes. He wondered if he remembered to pack goggles, he couldn’t seem to remember. Popping back up he wiped the water from his eyes looking around. Off in the distance he could see bottle nosed dolphins jumping around. He wondered how close they would get and hoped they would get closer. He then pointed them out to Ildri so she could see them also.
“Look dolphin’s aren’t they so majestic?”Word Count: 1070 Tag: Ildri/Cal Notes: Post! Figured I'd do it now since I won't be on tonight. Lyrics::A boy a girl and a graveyard- Jeremy Messersmith

Regrets collect like old friends Here to relive your darkest moments I can see no way, I can see no way Hearing his explanation she shrugged a bit. She did suppose that if he had a rough start than it would explain why a parent was so nervous about anything happening to them. Still though, they would have to learn to let go eventually that was for sure. Then again, if the person didn’t really mind did it matter? Probably not so much, though it could possibly end up as a problem later. Your parents wouldn’t be there forever certainly, and you had to do things on your own eventually. How else would you learn after all? ”If you had a rough start then it’s a bit more understandable. I was six when I was adopted; they found me while taking a walk through the forest. I had just turned human suddenly and was very confused. I couldn’t really speak either. It was certainly an interesting start to a human life.” she noted with a slight smile. That was her first experience as human, and it was definitely a weird one. How confused would you be if you were a bird one minute and then suddenly a human girl the next? The ability was weird, but it did allow her to blend in and socialize more easily than if she had just been a phoenix all her life. Though, if she had been a phoenix would she have even cared? She supposed she probably wouldn’t have honestly being that they seemed to be rather solitary creatures. She pondered this for a moment and wondered how different her life would be if she had never turned human.
The first statement made her sigh slightly. They really could have thrown her out if they wanted. It wasn’t as if she was biologically their child anyway. Things probably would have been far different if that had happened too actually. “Well, they took me in when they didn’t have to so, they had a right to throw me out if they wanted.” His next question made her smile slightly. ”When I turn two thousand. It happens every thousand years. A phoenix will burst into flames and then be reborn from those very ashes. I’ll be stuck as a phoenix for six years, and then won’t look like myself again for another twelve.” she noted with a shrug. It wasn’t a pleasant process being that she got quite sick for the days before she was reborn. She was actually sick to the point of it killing her before she was reborn, but fortunately she had retained her memories last time and expected to do so again. It would be very weird if you had to start from scratch each time when you already should have known about things. Actually, it would probably be particularly annoying at times if you had to start completely over, because then you would have to build relationships with immortals over and over again. If she picked someone to be with, she wouldn’t want to make them have to ask her out every time she was reborn. It would be terrible if she lost all the memories they had already had together to start over, and thus she was glad she kept her memories as if she was just getting older instead of starting over.
His statement made her give a bit of a nervous laugh. ”More along the lines of I’ve never turned on a television. That gets me some seriously weird looks. Or that I’ve been all over the world and know quite a few languages. Most people don’t have time to learn new languages and live around the world by the time they are twenty.” she noted simply. It wasn’t her saying things that were smarter than her years, it was her saying facts about her that she forgot only came with living forever at times. Some people could travel the world by her age sure, but they probably would only spend a few days in each place rather than the years she had actually spent there. Living in a country with a foreign language was probably the best way to learn it. If you had to use it every day, but had a little help it was far more likely to stick with you rather than just in some classroom. There was no real use for it outside of the classroom other than to study, and so it wasn’t as likely to stick as something that was super important to your life.
Hearing him say she could sometimes get mean she shrugged. Yeah, she did suppose that was true enough. After all, it wasn’t nice to light people on fire, and it certainly wasn’t nice of her to throw Alfred under the bus with Chaya the way she had. ”I don’t think I’ve ever been grounded.” she noted with a slight smile. ”I guess people want to spend as many years with their kid as possible? Or maybe they’re just dumb and don’t know how to not get pregnant.” she noted going with both sides of the issue. She was sure some people probably wanted kids at a young age, but some did not and it just sort of happened on accident and they had to deal with it. Hearing him say he wanted to travel and build a foundation she smiled slightly. She had certainly done quite a bit of travelling herself, but she wasn’t ready to stop doing so quite yet. Sure she had a house, but it was lonely and so she didn’t spend a lot of time there by herself. If she had someone with her, then maybe she would be more willing to stay there for longer than a few years. It would certainly make the place less quiet. Right now it was almost as if it was just an abandoned house in the woods, and no amount of redecorating would change that she didn’t think.
His explanation on why animals attack made her shrug. Usually that was true enough, but she had no idea what shark week was. ”What’s shark week?” she asked wondering if it was some sort of show on a television, which was what it sounded like from the way he was talking. She had definitely made her point on it not having to be on fire to hurt. After all, boiling water or a hot surface could burn someone that wasn’t fireproof easily enough right? She hadn’t, on the other hand, removed her hand from his arm. Maybe she forgot it was there, or maybe she didn’t want to move it, but either way she left it, just had cooled it back off to not burn him. When he went underwater though she did let go, when he came back up he pointed out dolphins and she blinked. ”Apparently I was wrong, there are predators. Dolphins can be very mean creatures.” she noted simply. Sure they looked nice, but they weren’t very nice. They actually killed more people than sharks did. Really though, they were probably in too shallow of water for them to show up too much closer. She couldn’t imagine they would want to risk beaching themselves while trying to play with them or something.
