Hey, hey, you, you! I don't like your girlfriend,
No way, no way I think you need a new one, Hey, hey, you, you! I could be your girlfriend “Frankie? Are you giving presidents nick names now? And a super solider project I bet costs millions of government dollars. It would have been way to expensive.”
Tessa laughed and went back to digging, but even though on the outside it looked like she was just making fun. Well inside was a whole different matter; the gears in her head were spinning fast than she could even think. She wondered why on earth Alfred was acting like he knew these people that he obviously could not. It was mind boggling to Tessa; she just wanted to know the truth. Finally ripping her mind off what Alfred said she began to allow herself to relax, she picked up the comics and thumbed thru them. Finally finding one that interests her, it happened to be a Captain America comic book.
Flipping through the pages Tessa began to read a bit of it, almost forgetting Alfred was in the room. But before she got way too in to it she set it down neatly on his bed. Going through more of the comics she found a hulk comic that was very intriguing. It wasn’t as good as the Captain America but it looked like it could be get interesting near the middle. Putting that one down she found a super women comic, looking at it like it was the Holy Grail she open it. This one was something she wouldn’t mind reading all the time. Reading the first couple pages she hears Alfred As if she found anything she was interested in.

CHEESEBURGER IN PARADISE HEAVEN ON EARTH WITH AN ONION SLICE NOT TOO PARTICULAR, NOT TOO PRECISE
----------------------------------"Sure, why not?"
Alfred stated with a shrug when Tessa asked if he was giving presidents nicknames now. He didn't see anything wrong with it, in all honesty, though not all of his bosses agreed with their nicknames. Some were more easygoing about it than others, though most realized in the end that it was useless to try to argue with Alfred on the matter. Once he had a nickname for you, it tended to stick. Alfred didn't seem to mind that Tessa was immersing herself in his comic book collection. Instead he busied himself with looking over a few titles himself. He'd read them all before, but that didn't mean that he didn't want to reread some of his favorites again and again! Looking over at the comics that Tessa selected, Alfred shot her a thumbs up. "All good choices! And I dunno, I didn't think about her." He did have a lot of comics to sift through, and these weren't even all of them! Hearing that she'd opted to go for a Captain America comic book, a smile played across Alfred's face from ear to ear. He started to dig through the tub, before retrieving an old comic book from the bottom. It's cover depicted Captain America punching Adolf Hitler in the face. "If you're going to read Captain America you might as well start at the beginning, you know." He actually had a lot of the starter issues, but being that this one was his particular favorite...well, it seemed even more important to start her off right! He tossed the comic book in her direction at once. Hey, hey, you, you! I don't like your girlfriend,
No way, no way I think you need a new one, Hey, hey, you, you! I could be your girlfriend “I don’t know, maybe cause you don’t know any of the president personally. How do you know if they would even like you calling them that? I’m sure they like to be more formally addressed. It’s only a guess though, I don’t know any president on talking basis.”
It was true Tessa didn’t talk to any president nor did she have there numbers. She could only guess that calling a president Frankie wouldn’t rub them in the right way. Tessa was sure that with them being a big wig they’d want to be known as Mr. President or something like that. If she were a president she’d want a formal title too, not someone making up names. But then again if a woman got elected as president she was sure she’d be dropping a few mouths. And if she wanted to be called wonder women people would do it. Smiling at the thought she dropped the comic book a little and dreamt about it. Snapping back when Alfred began saying he didn’t think about super women.
“You didn’t think about her?! How dare you not think about Super Women, she’s just as good as the others you have in there.”
She wondered just how many comic books he had, there seemed to be a lot in this bucket. Was it a room full of comics or just a couple bookcases? Wanting to ask she soon forgot, watching Alfred begin to dig in the bucket. Tilting her head she wondered what comic book he was after. It looks like whatever comic he was looking for it was at the very bottom of course. Nothing could be simply at the top; finally he pulled it out and her eyes widened. The book seemed old but in excellent shape, tossing it to Tessa she grabbed it up. Laying back on his bed she held the book out in front of her face.
“This book looks so vintage, this is amazing I feel like I’m about to read on of the first issues. I think that we are going to work out. I-I mean with the comic books.”Word Count: 354 Tag: Alfred/Mandee Notes: Lyrics: Avril Lavigne- Boyfriend

CHEESEBURGER IN PARADISE HEAVEN ON EARTH WITH AN ONION SLICE NOT TOO PARTICULAR, NOT TOO PRECISE
----------------------------------Contrary to Tessa, not only did Alfred know a president on a talking basis, but he knew every U.S. president on a talking basis. So he just shrugged once more to Tessa's question, not bothering to give her an answer either way.
On the subject of a female boss? Alfred had no problem with that idea. It wasn't like other nations hadn't had female bosses before. Arthur had one in...the 80s, was it? Alfred was pretty sure it was the 80s. Speaking of bosses, this was one of those fun years that decided whether he'd keep the old boss or get a new one the coming year. As important as the upcoming election was, Alfred tried to stay away from elections, and it damn clear to any boss who tried to get him involved with re-election that he didn't want to get involved. He liked having a good rapport with his bosses no matter what party they were from. Getting involved with the election process would just be one huge headache, especially those times when incumbent bosses didn't win.
Alfred held up his hands in mock surrender, but the fact that he was grinning made it clear that he wasn't really intimidated by Tessa. "Hey, I've got a lot of comics in there. Super Woman isn't as well known as some of the rest of them."
He watched with a satisfied smile as Tessa feasted her eyes upon the issue of Captain America he tossed to her. Hearing what she said about feeling like she was about to read one of the first issues, he chuckled lightly. "Makes sense. That is the first issue, you know. From 1940." He'd gotten it in 1940 too. Even though, at the time, he was trying to avoid getting involved with the war in Europe and Asia, he did support the Allies. Therefore the picture of a superhero in patriotic uniform punching Adolf Hitler in the face was one that he had to add to his collection. He almost missed Tessa's last statement. Almost, but not quite. His eyebrow shot up at once as a bewildered look came across his face. "Huh?" Fortunately Tessa caught herself, but that was a little much for even Alfred. He could accept her explanation for now, but that choice of words just seemed too...planned, and he couldn't understand how she could have mistakenly said something like that when she was meaning to talk about the comic books. "Ah yeah." [/blockquote][/blockquote] ---------------------------------- TEMPLATE CREDIT: eliza @ shadowplay SONG: Cheeseburger in Paradise by Jimmy Buffett WORD COUNT:410 TAG: Tessa/Shannon NOTES: Whoo longer post again this time! ---------------------------------- I'M JUST A CHEESEBURGER IN PARADISE[/blockquote]

Hey, hey, you, you! I don't like your girlfriend,
No way, no way I think you need a new one, Hey, hey, you, you! I could be your girlfriend Shoveling through more comic books she threw a look at Alfred saying that Super women was important. And she was to Tessa, her mother would always tell her stories of Super Women and how she could do anything. Honestly Super Women was her role model growing up; she knew if Super Women could do anything that she could. Which is why she now studies hard and makes sure that nothing gets in her way from finding out the truth. Although it was a weird sort of role model so she usually kept that interesting little fact to herself.
“Just because you think women aren’t more important than men…..”
She was starting to feel her crush being severed. The one thing that was more important to her than study was women were just as smart and important as men. Even though most men would disagree because it was a men’s world and she knew it. Tessa just didn’t believe in it, some men she was way more advanced in a lot of things. Shoot even some men who were older than her, she was more advanced than. Tessa looked at the captain America issue as Alfred started to answer her question about why the Comic looked so old. She was amazed that is was a first issue from 1940.
“Oh well I don’t want to take it if it’s a first issue. Not that I wouldn’t take excellent care of it but my roommate, she’s awesome but isn’t as clean as I am. You know her Erin Patrick. That would be the only thing that would concern me.”
It was true; Erin was her roommate and has helped Tessa loosen up. But as for keeping things clean, well lets just say Tessa cleaned up hourly. Ok maybe not that much but she did have to clean up a lot. And she would hate it if Erin had used the book as a coaster. It would have driven Tessa up the wall, then again she could always find some type of book cover to put over it, she had enough. It was just a risky move, but then again it’s not like she couldn’t go back in time and replace the book with out Alfred knowing.
“Ha, yeah sorry about that. I thought you were going to think you and me. How absurd would that be?”
She smiled and ran her fingers through her hair. When she did that most of the time it was because Tessa got nervous. She was just hoping that Alfred would take the excuse as a good one.Word Count: 431 Tag: Alfred/Mandee Notes: Posted as promised. =D Lyrics: Avril Lavigne- Boyfriend

CHEESEBURGER IN PARADISE HEAVEN ON EARTH WITH AN ONION SLICE NOT TOO PARTICULAR, NOT TOO PRECISE
----------------------------------A bewildered look came across Alfred's face at Tessa's next statement. Where had she gotten that from what he'd said? That wasn't what he meant at all!
"That's not it at all! There are plenty of awesome women, superheroes or otherwise! I just meant that Super Woman isn't a well known comic, that's all! Wonder Woman's a lot more well known than her. Then there's the X-Men, which has plenty of great ladies, and the Avengers. The Wasp and Black Widow? They're pretty kickass too. Even if Black Widow did come from Russia..."
Still, she'd deserted her previous station and joined the Avengers. That made her cool in Alfred's book! Even Ivan, Russia himself, wasn't that bad...sometimes... Though he'd never admit that out loud. Alfred shook his head with a grin. "Hey, don't worry about it!" Then he heard Tessa's comment. Wait...Tessa was rooming with Ireland? Not that Tessa would know that Erin was Ireland, but he'd recognize that name anywhere. Now he could understand her concern for the comic a little more. "I know Erin! She and I go way back." He left out the part where 'way back' translated to 1783. It also might seem a bit strange that an American boy and Irish girl went 'way back' in the first place, but at least that one could be explained away. They were at an international school, after all. Hopefully that would be enough to explain it. The quizzical expression returned at Tessa's next statement. Alfred had a habit of being oblivious unless things were dangled in front of his face, but even he didn't miss the significance of what she was saying. His eyes went wide. Hopefully she didn't actually have that in mind. She was human and he was not. Flings were alright, but actual romance? He couldn't say he hadn't been tempted before, but no. He knew better. She was human and he was not, and it was as simple as that. Except it wasn't for her, because she didn't know what he was. And likely wouldn't know, unless something set the ball rolling in that direction. "Pretty absurd." Alfred stated with a grin. Hey, hey, you, you! I don't like your girlfriend,
No way, no way I think you need a new one, Hey, hey, you, you! I could be your girlfriend Tessa crossed her arms, but as Alfred began to explain away her arms fell more and more away from her body. That was one major thing Tessa couldn’t forgive if he thought men were better than women because it wasn’t true. Well she figured in some cases it was but in most women were just as brilliant as men. And for some women more than that. She seemed confused as he was listing off names, like she had said before she wasn’t much in to comics and didn’t know much about them. But for Alfred to remember then they must be pretty note worth women to remember. Feeling slightly embarrassed for reading in to his words her cheeks turned a shade of red. It wasn’t that she meant to put him on the spot at all; it just came out that way. When Tessa felt passionate about something she put her all in to it.
“Sorry, I sometimes read in to what people are saying a bit much. A really bad habit of mine if I do say so myself. You and Erin go way back how, I mean besides school.”
Tessa’s palms started to sweat she wondered if her roommate dated Alfred. She could all ready feel slightly hostile feelings toward the girl even though she shouldn’t. Erin had really helped her loosen up even though half the time it was Tessa picking up after the girl. She almost didn’t want to talk about it; I mean this was her roommate till Tessa departed school. But at the same time she was itching to hear their history. Maybe if he just put it in a nice way like they dated a long time ago. She stopped her self from even going that far, she didn’t even know IF they dated. So she sat on edge until he told her, even though it was really non of her business.
“Yeah, me and you please! I’m older than you anyway ridiculous.”
Tessa’s hopes slightly deflated as he said this, and even as the words left her mouth it felt weird. After all she was twenty-one and he was only nineteen. There was just something about Alfred that made him seem older and more mature. She couldn’t put her fingers on why, which is maybe the mystery that kept egging her on to like him. She always liked to figure out mysteries, and if she couldn’t well lets just say that has yet to happen.Word Count: 413 Tag: Alfred/Mandee Notes: none Lyrics: Avril Lavigne- Boyfriend

CHEESEBURGER IN PARADISE HEAVEN ON EARTH WITH AN ONION SLICE NOT TOO PARTICULAR, NOT TOO PRECISE
----------------------------------It puzzled Alfred that Tessa wanted to know more about his history with Erin. "Well, we met at a..."
Alfred struggled with what word he wanted to use next. He couldn't very well call Arthur at that point in time a friend by any means. "A mutual acquaintance's house." That seemed like the best word choice to describe the relationship. "We got to know each other, and we dated for a bit, years back." Years back translated in reality to the middle of the 1800s, but he figured that Tessa would take it to mean that they dated in their high school years. Even if they was a hint of something in Alfred's eyes that portrayed that he'd seen a lot more than his physical appearance betrayed, Tessa did not have the ingredients needed to make the leap. Not just yet, anyway. For a moment, Alfred looked bewildered at Tessa. There was that 'you and me' again. Even if Tessa was laughing it off, there was something odd about the way that she kept bringing it up. Fortunately (or perhaps unfortunately), the statement that followed distracted Alfred. The avalanche of laughter started almost immediately. He knew she'd be confused as to where it was coming from, but he couldn't help it. He knew that her reasoning was flawed. Physically, he was two years younger than her, but he'd been around for a lot longer. Twenty-one years seemed like nothing to him. He'd surpassed the age of twenty-one in the 1600s, although he was physically only about three or four at the time. It was likely that Alfred's response to this would only bring on more questions, but he didn't entirely mind. "You have no idea." Alfred stated to the girl with a large grin on his face, a grin that suggested that there was something more to what he was saying. It practically screamed 'I know something you don't know' from the rooftops. And Alfred was having a blast with that. Hey, hey, you, you! I don't like your girlfriend,
No way, no way I think you need a new one, Hey, hey, you, you! I could be your girlfriend Tessa nodded as he began to explain where he and Erin met. Slightly feeling jealousy flutter up again she calmed her self back down. She wondered how they met at a mutual friends house since she knew Erin was Irish and Alfred was obviously American. He stumped her but that didn’t mean they could have met here in Canada. So instead of asking she just figured that was what he meant with out saying it. See there she went again assuming what others were saying instead of asking. Shifting nervously as he told her that they did date. It made her slightly uncomfortable since Erin was pretty. Not that Tessa didn’t know that she was pretty but it made her self question what was wrong with her self. Why couldn’t Alfred see her as dating material but knocked that out of her head before she made her self worry.
“Oh you two dated, she never told me that. Then again we don’t really talk on that kind of level.”
Laughing nervously she put her hands neatly in her lap and looked at them for a long while. Not wanting to seem like this bothered her she looked back up with a smile on her face. Thinking for a moment she wondered if he caught on. His face seemed to be confused then he busted out laughing. Which confused Tessa as to why he was laughing it didn’t make sense. She wasn’t sure if she should laugh too if she didn’t hear something that he said. Although she was sure she didn’t but smiled like she was in on his joke. Tilting her head to the side she wondered what he was laughing at. But her thoughts were jerked when he said she had no idea.
“What do you mean I have no idea?”
This was something she wasn’t going to let go. It didn’t make sense how did she not have any idea? Tessa knew that Alfred was nine-teen it’s not like he could be older than her is was mathematically impossible. Little did she know that he was way older than her and when she found out more questions were going to surface. Shuffling through the comic books nervously she wondered if Alfred was unstable. It made her slightly worried that maybe he was going to kill her now that she was in her dorm. Pushing that thought to the side she figured he would have all ready tried to kill her if that was the case. Not mentioning it looked like he had a roommate and that would be a hard secret to keep from somebody. Unless the roommate was in on it, shifting her eyes around the room she figured that she was just being paranoid. Well more paranoid that usual, so sitting back a bit she waited for the answer.Word Count: 474 Tag: Alfred/Mandee Notes: I know, but soon she will figure out Alfred's secret! CHEESEBURGER IN PARADISE HEAVEN ON EARTH WITH AN ONION SLICE NOT TOO PARTICULAR, NOT TOO PRECISE
----------------------------------"Yeah, well, that was years ago."
More than a century and a half before, but again, Tessa didn't need to know that at this point in time. Bursting into laughter at Tessa's comment probably wasn't the best course of action, but he couldn't help it! Just to hear that that of all things was her reasoning why it wouldn't work out. Ironically, their age difference was the reason why they wouldn't work out, she just had it opposite from the way that it actually was. It wasn't that he wasn't interested in her at all. He enjoyed talking to her, and she was attractive. "You have no idea! I think I've seen a lot more than you have." He stated this with a wink. Even with her time traveling, she hadn't experienced things the way he had, and it was honestly kind of fun teasing her about it, especially if she really thought a two year age difference was that big of a deal. He left out the other parts that she had no idea on. If one were to take a good luck at Alfred's records, they would likely start spotting oddities. The fact that he was born on July 4th on it's own wasn't all that peculiar, but then one had to take into consideration the fact that his city of birth was listed as Washington D.C. Still, perhaps not too strange, but then if one took a look at the parents listed on his records, they'd see the names George and Martha. If that wasn't enough, there was an uncanny resemblance between Alfred F. Jones and Matthew Williams. The two even referred to each other as brothers! And yet...Matthew was without a doubt Canadian. In addition, Matthew's birthday was July 1st. Alfred didn't expect Tessa to delve into matters, though. Most people didn't. Hence why he was so confident that his secret was safe even if he was toying with her a little. Hey, hey, you, you! I don't like your girlfriend,
No way, no way I think you need a new one, Hey, hey, you, you! I could be your girlfriend Tessa looked around for a moment while he said it was years ago they dated and sighed in relief. Not that it mattered either way, because they were still ex’s. It was just a small piece of mind that floated around Tessa’s brain. It was weird to think how many people she actually knew had all ready dated. Such a small world they really lived in, where people knew others that you didn’t even know they were friends with. It all ways amazed her when people could link to other people. Standing up, she stretched Tessa could sit for long periods of time. But she began to feel jittery like she couldn’t stay seated any longer. And she wasn’t in class so there was no reason she had to sit and be still.
“What do you mean I have no idea? How could you have seen a lot more than me, a time traveler?”
Alfred seemed to be laughing at her and rubbing his secret in her face. Little did he know she was determined to find out, one way or another. Even if she had to dig deep in to Erin’s past to find out what Alfred’s connection was. She hated to have to use Erin as a sacrifice but al is fair in love and war right? She couldn’t help to giggle at that analogy since this wasn’t really a war just a tiny battle. Tessa relaxed and figured that it wasn’t worth making her roommate mad at her. Even if she could get so juicy secrets from Erin while intoxicated.

CHEESEBURGER IN PARADISE HEAVEN ON EARTH WITH AN ONION SLICE NOT TOO PARTICULAR, NOT TOO PRECISE
----------------------------------Alfred wasn't even bothered when Tessa rose to her feet. He'd been on his feet the entire time, so it only made sense that she'd want to talk to him on a more even level. He did realize she might be getting a little upset over his assurances that he'd seen more than she had, but rather than take this as a sign that he should back off, he decided to just keep pushing. What? It was fun! "Well, I guess that would depend on where and when you've traveled to! I mean, I got some idea from looking through your little book here..."
Alfred gestured to the book with another grin. The grin faded at the sensation that came next. It was a vague, spinning sensation. He heard her asking what she wasn't telling him before the sensation became too much for even him to bear. He had to close his eyes to shut out the rest of the world. He wanted to scream at her, to ask what the hell she was doing, but the words caught in his throat. Did he even have a throat? He didn't feel as though he did. He felt as though he were just floating in space. Then, just as soon as the sensation started, it stopped, and a bewildered Alfred opened his eyes. "What did you do that for? What did you do? Where are we?" The questions came tumbling out of Alfred's mouth at once. He looked simultaneously confused, afraid...and excited. "Did we just time travel?!" As the full implications of what happened hit Alfred, he grinned larger than ever. Holy crap, they'd actually time traveled! If this was the response he got for teasing her he'd have to do so more often! He'd actually gone back in time. How cool was that?! Alfred's question was answered as soon as he realized just where and when they were. They were in Westminster near London, and Alfred realized with a sick feeling just where they'd landed - The first General Assembly of the United Nations. Suddenly hit with a flash of cold, being January, Alfred wished he'd grabbed his bomber jacket, as it was quite chilly just standing there in his Captain America shirt. "Uh...we should probably head back though, shouldn't we? I mean, we don't want to be missing for too long!" He didn't care if she saw the public general assembly, but there were two general assemblies in the United Kingdom that day. One was the publicly known first General Conference of the United Nations. The other was the first World Conference. And Tessa would recognize a few of the attendees of that meeting. The quicker they got away the better! "Maybe we can go back and see some dinosaurs?" "Mr. Jones, it's good to see you. I assume the lady you're with is one of your staff?"Ohhhhhhh crap on a stick. Alfred had no choice but to play along. "Sure is!" He pulled Tessa close to him in a one armed hug. "This is Tessa O'Conner." The man nodded, continuing on in a pronounced British accent. "It is a pleasure, Ms. O'Conner. If you follow me, I'll show you to where you'll be staying..."Alfred remained silent as he followed the man. What other choice did he have? He was indeed supposed to be here, just not his 2012 self. He knew Tessa likely had questions now, but just continued to stare straight ahead as the man led them into a much smaller venue. It looked more like a school than an actual meeting area, which suited the delegates of the meeting better. This wasn't supposed to look like any big to-do, when, in reality, it was just as big as the General Assembly. In fact, it was a branch off of the General Conference. While the General Assembly was a meeting of delegates from each nation, the World Conference, the top secret meeting they were being led to right now? Was an actual meeting of nations. Alfred was in trouble now. On the bright side, at least they were someplace warm again? "The meetings will start in one hour. Sir Kirkland has requested that you keep your interruptions to a minimum, 'lest we have a repeat of our LAST meeting'. His words, not mine.""But I'm the hero! Who pretty much saved your asses during the war?" "...Sir Kirkland has also requested that you stop referring to yourself as the hero when everyone contributed to the effort."Alfred raised an eyebrow. "Whatever. Things didn't start to get real good till I joined the party!" The man simply shook his head at this. "One hour." Then he stalked off, leaving Alfred and Tessa alone in the hallway. Alfred turned to Tessa with a sheepish grin. Hey, hey, you, you! I don't like your girlfriend,
No way, no way I think you need a new one, Hey, hey, you, you! I could be your girlfriend Feeling her blood boil she decided to take Alfred for a trip just to show him she could travel and see more things that he could ever imagine. Letting the room spin she grabbed on to him so she would come with her. Not sure where in time she was headed she left that up to her powers. Or whatever times were floating around in Alfred’s mind her powers could grab on to. Finally getting to their destination she let go of him looking around. She wasn’t sure where they were because this wasn’t a place she had ever been too. Tessa looked at the bewilderment in Alfred’s face before smirking as he asked what she did that for and where they were. But her smirk faded as she realized she wasn’t sure where in the hell they were. Looking around they definitely weren’t in Kansas anymore.
“Yes that was time traveling, but not sure where I think it was a time floating around in your head… I’ve never visited this place before in my life. And please you are talking to a time traveler, I can land us back in time right where we left off, no one ever will know we are missing.”
Alfred seemed to be nervous and this made Tessa feel more triumphant than she had before. He said something about the dinosaurs but this was to good of a time for her to pass up. To see Alfred act like he’s seen a ghost was too hilarious in her mind. That was until someone came up to Alfred and greeted him. This was numero uno of what not to do while time traveling, mess with the past. Now this time was making Tessa nervous but it’s not like they could just disappear now. Feeling Alfred slide his arm around her she melted. It made everything a bit better, until the person was trying to usher them off somewhere. She heard the man talk about some kind of meeting and raised her brow. What the hell did she get them in to now?! And who was Sir Kirkland? Looking at Alfred banter back like he belonged her stunned Tessa for a second but she regained her composure and smile or laughed when appropriate.
“Yeah you do! What is this place? I meant to scare you but now I see it wasn’t a good idea…. Are there two of you floating around this could be a disaster! Who’s Kirkland and what is this place?”
Tessa said after the man was out of earshot. Her thoughts traveled to what if there were two Alfred’s in one place. I mean things were weird, but not that freaky, glancing around the hallway she wondered where the man had led them to anyway. And what the hell was in one hour did she even want to know? Fidgeting she played with her hair not sure if they should go back now or play this out for a while. She was more tempted to go back right now.

CHEESEBURGER IN PARADISE HEAVEN ON EARTH WITH AN ONION SLICE NOT TOO PARTICULAR, NOT TOO PRECISE
----------------------------------If Alfred knew that Tessa time traveled on purpose, he would likely be even more upset with her. As it was, he already knew that he was in hot water. It wasn't just him either. If anyone got wind that Tessa wasn't supposed to be here...well, he wouldn't exactly blame the others if they decided to take out the security risk. The fact that he'd brought said security risk, someone who wasn't even a government official...hell, not even one of his citizens weighed on him heavily. As far as he was concerned, they needed to get out of there before they chanced a meeting with his past self.
"Well, we need to get out of here soon. If anyone here gets wind that you're not supposed to be here, we're talking international security breach. I know you're not a threat, but try telling 'em that if they find out there are two of me running around."
He inadvertently answered one of her questions before he even processed it. He raised an eyebrow when Tessa admitted that she'd brought them back to scare him. "You couldn't have just taken us back to see the dinosaurs? That would have been a lot more awesome than this mess." Technically, it wasn't a mess yet. But it could be...and besides, Alfred had a habit of over-exaggerating things anyway. "Kirkland would be the mutual acquaintance I mentioned earlier. Pretty important figure in my childhood. Then...shit happened...and now he gets drunk every year on my birthday. Every year, for the past 236 years. Can you believe that?" 'Shit happened' was perhaps putting it mildly, but Alfred didn't get why Arthur couldn't get the hell over it already. The fact that he contributed by poking at the old man's wounds, figuratively speaking, didn't even cross his mind. Of course, the 236 bit would throw up a huge red flag, but at this point, Alfred didn't much care. It wasn't like she wasn't already suspicious. People knew him in 1946, and they were in the building of the World Conference. He wouldn't be surprised if she recognized other students from New World Academy. "You know about the United Nations, I'd hope? The first General Assembly of the United Nations is about to take place in that building over there." He pointed at the Westminster Central Hall, a much more impressive looking building than the one they were currently in. As it should be, for the first meeting of the United Nations. That was the funny part, though. The general assembly was only a front. Alfred had to hand it to their governments...they'd really thought this through! He looked back to Tessa with the same grin as before...the 'I know something you don't know' grin. "The World Conference is in an hour. The real meeting of the nations." Not just their delegates... Hey, hey, you, you! I don't like your girlfriend,
No way, no way I think you need a new one, Hey, hey, you, you! I could be your girlfriend Tessa’s eyes widened as Alfred had told her they needed to get out of here asap. He didn’t look like he was saying this just to get back to there time. Alfred did have a point even she knew two of him running around could cause chaos with people. Biting her lip she wanted him to answer more of her questions but knew here and now was not the place to badger him. Plus if she wanted an answer she could always threaten him with leaving him somewhere in time. Although Alfred didn’t seem like he’d be to keen on threats. So maybe if she just batted her eyes and acted cute he would spill. Or even getting him drunk would be the better option than any of them. Tessa thought for a moment not even sure if the boy in front of her even drank.
“I agree we need to find a safe place and leave, I don’t want to be a security breach who knows what they would do to me. I could have taken us to see the dino’s but then you wouldn’t be telling me anything just making jokes. Plus you started it, with teasing me so I don’t want to hear this is all my fault.”
Listening to Alfred explain who Kirkland was she was a bit confused. Why would he get drunk on Alfred’s birthday wasn’t it more normal to send a present of some kind? What really sent her for a loop was when he mentioned for the past 236 years. How was that even possible, recalling there conversation earlier about he was older than he appeared gears started to move in her head. She wondered why Alfred and Kirkland got in a fight then again Alfred seemed to be very strong willed. It could have just been a huge disagreement that was never resolved.
“What happened? And 236 years ago, is that why you said you’ve seen more than me? What are you?”
All these questions just seemed to be coming out of Tessa’s mouth all at once. It was hard not to ask these things since they were critical. I suppose right now they weren’t since they were still in a dangerous situation but Tessa’s mind was moving past dangerous to curious. That in it’s self could place them in more danger, not thinking about the consequences Tessa just kept firing questions at Alfred. Glancing around to make sure no one was coming she felt more comfortable which was a huge mistake. Listening to Alfred talk about the United Nations she was once again stumped. Who the hell was she with a secret FBI agent?
“What do you mean by the real meeting of the nations? Nations are just land, they aren’t real Alfred. That is why they have governments and people who represent because nations can’t represent themselves.”
Little did Tessa know she was playing with fire. Because Alfred was real and right in front of her not to mention a nation, which she is now saying he is just a land mass. Then again to people who weren’t in on the secret, which a lot were not in on nations were just land masses nothing more or less. Tessa looked at Alfred, she wasn’t sure what he was thinking.
